I have to do a wedding in this area on Sat. I must admit. I don't feel great about it.

This is one of the better looking areas.

This is in Detroit. The Bride and groom (Family) are very nice but I've been told there are armed gangs in the area who shoot first and then rob you.

i shoot in areas like that all the time...no one bothers me, haven't been shot and robbed yet. (ofcourse i have friends with me one or two of whom are armed)
you'll be doing a wedding for crying in the barn man, there will be too many people to shoot and too many witnesses to go through to get your cameras and equipment, you'll be safe as a babe in it's mother's arms.

Sure why not. Unless your shooting afterdark, in the vacant lot.

If your going to be in a church or other hall, I really doubt the church is going to get raided by dirtbags out to take your wallet.

Detroit is a craphole, but a large percentage of people going there do make it out without getting their backside shot off.

Unless there is a piston game going on.

If your concerned about leaving a car, park it in a protected lot, and take a cab, and return to your car by cab.

I think that you are B'sng but if thats where they want to do their wedding and your invited then why pass judgement. Are you too good to be in a area like that or to good to go to their wedding???? Be happy for them and support them then get the hell outta dodge once it's over :)

I think I'd take about 20 disposable cameras and hope for the best. At least you wouldn't lose your equipment!

What do you mean by "do a wedding"? photographer, caterer, judge?? what. by looking at the pic, I would be a little leary too. Good luck.
