Just curious if anyone does that, or can I start a trend maybe?! It sounds cool to me. FYI, I'm a dork so maybe it's OK for me to say it.

By the way, I'm a full grown woman, and I like to use throwback slang ironically, like rad, etc. I still appreciate the input everyone, but FYI I'm afraid there's no stopping my impulse to say idk now.

I think I got it from that old lady in the commercial ("idk, my bff rose"). It sounded so cool when she said it!!

I think it's one of the plagues of teenagers today -- text message spelling! It's bad enough that people do it when they are not texting on a cell phone, but to actually speak it.... It is so nerdy, but that's my opinion. Start a trend that everyone else doesn't do already. Like develop a great vocabulary.

Samantha,

That's a really 'far out' idea. It should be fun to see how people react.

You may not remember John Denver, but he started people saying 'far out' instead of cool or rad.

Stick with using it in texting. It sounds really stupid when said out loud, LOL.

Do it only when typing! It's so obnoxious when tweens/teens speak that way.

Most people find it annoying when people use internet/text message phrases out loud. The only time I hear it is as a joke, or in reference to that American commercial that was out a while ago (with the girl who said, "IDK, my BFF, Jill?")
IDK may be faster to type than "I don't know", but it's faster to say something like "I dunno" than "I-D-K" out loud, and you're less likely to be punched in the face for sounding stupid. :)
