I bought my two month old kitten last week from Little Critters. The first day he seemed reallly fine, not eating that much but, i thought it was because of the move. The second day he didn't eat at all. I bought thae same food as the store was using and he wouldn't eat it but, he would go to the litter constantly. diahrea.. I took him to the vet on the third day, and she said he was okay but he is only 1.2 pounds. She gave me some wet recovery food for him to try. He still wasn't eating. I called the store and the breeder of my kitten (tobbasco) and they said that he was fed chicken before he had went to the store where I bought him. So, basically, he didn't eat for the entire time he was at the store!! Now, he doesn't eat anything but boiled chicken. I don't know what to do. I have tried mixing the chicken with wet and dry food and he just eats the chicken around it..Is the chicken causing the excessive pooping? He cries out when going to the bathroom, I think he hurts when he goes.

I am so sorry the little guy is having a rough time.

Try putting the chicken in with the wet recovery food in a food processor or blender so he can't eat around it.

He really needs the recovery food since he is dehydrated from the diarrhea. The wet food contains mostly water.

He needs to have fresh water available. You will really have to keep an eye on him since kittens can go downhill really quickly.

They really shouldn't have sold him to you if he wasn't eating or had diarrhea.

My kitten had a similar problem, I think I was feeding too often.
The vet told me to stop feeding him 8 hours and only give him water, after that to give him cottage cheese twice every 30 min so it'll make a protective layer in his stomach and then feed him in small amounts to give the chance to his stomach to heal, give him plenty of water so he won't dehydrate. Always ask the vet and good luck. Don't forget to keep him hydrated. I'm feeding my almost 2 month kitten every 5 hours and is working just fine but I give him water more often.

When you took your kitten to the vet, did she test him for the parasite... Coccidia ? That will cause diahhrea in kittens and is easily taken care of. Just a few units of Albon per day, for about a week, and he should be fine..if that's his problem. If he was NOT checked for Coccidia, your vet fell down on the job. Another thing that can cause runny poop is MILK. Kittens can't digest cow's milk. Goat's milk will help sometimes, and they can digest that. If his little butt hurts, clean it GENTLY really well, with baby wipes, everytime he poops, and put a llittle soothing cream on it. Good luck with him.

you really need to call the vet and get him another appointment and tell the vet all of this. I lost a 3 month old kitten to the same symptoms about 6 months ago.

Please go back to the vet and tell them the kitten is still not better. The vet can help you, but we can't.

Please direct all your questions at a vet. If you don't understand what they're doing or why, ask them to clarify.

To much milk. That will cause it. Try reducing the amount of milk you give it.
