Hello! I'm Brazillian and I'm currently studying English. All I know is by myself, it shows you how much I admire the native language of yours. What about mine? Have you ever heard to someone speaking Brazillian Portuguese? How does it sound to you? Is it resembling to some other language that you've also heard?
I wonder I could some day talk to a british person, just like friends, and get to know things about you there, our differences and resemblances... would some of you share your MSN with me? Mine is medeirosdez@yahoo.com.br That'd be great we to talk on MSN by voice!
Tell me first what you think about my language!

Oi!

Like Spanish. Now that I'm learning Spanish I can identify a Portuguese speaker, but I'd still be hard pressed to identify accents.

I am learning Portuguese (slowly) and I prefer the Brazilian accent to the Portuguese of Portugal.

I am Brazilian and I have lived in England for a year and everyone I have met thought I was Spanish.
It is funny because the Portuguese accent is very interesting in English. For example, they "elp" when they speak help.

I work with tourists and meet people from all over the world. When Brazilians are speaking portuguese, the language can be flowing and pretty (though not one of my favourites), but also very nasal. When they are speaking english, however, it is one of my two least favourite accents (the other being italian, but only because I've only ever found one Italian person that I actually like - maybe cos none of them seem to have manners, and a serious need for GPS to help get their heads from out of their own a**es)

To be quite honest, I would imagine most Brits would think it is Spanish...
I know there is a difference, but not being able to speak either Spanish or Portuguese, I would not be able to tell which.

Yes there are two Brazilian women in my German class so when one of them doesn't understand something the other explains in Portuguese. Sounds cool. I can't tell it from Portuguese Portuguese or Spanish though.
