P.S. On the family tree, John Albert Winward, is the same person as John A. Winward on the 'my connection' thingy.

If you are a descendant of Mary, Queen of Scots, you are also a descendant of James I of England and VI of Scotland as well as his son Charles I. Charles fathered two children who survived to adulthood: Charles II, who had no legitimate heirs, and Elizabeth, who married a German prince from whom the Houses of Hanover, Saxe-Coberg Gotha, and Windsor descend.

Charles II acknowledged a dozen descendants by seven different mistresses. Among his descendants are Diana, Princess of Wales, who was a descendant of two of Charles' illegitimate sons, and Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall, and Diana's arch rival and successor. Whether John Albert Winward is connected with any of the above probably depends on whether you can trace his ancestry to one of Charles II's mistresses.

Dear, it will probably take you awhile to research that far back. You have to start with yourself and work back one generation at a time. Getting that documents and the proofs will not be cheap or easy.

You can't start from Mary Queen of Scots and try to work down to you. That doesn't work.

Get as much info from living family as possible, particularly your senior members.

Go to your public library and find out what all they have in genealogy. They might have a subscription to Ancestry.Com you can use. Ancestry.Com has all the U.S. censuses through 1930. The 1940 and later are not available to the public yet. They have U.K. censuses also. They have lots of records.

Now, you can't take as absolute fact everything you see in family trees on any website, free or paid. The information is submitted by folks like you and me and most is not documented. Even if you see the same information repeatedly by many different submitters that is no guarantee it is correct. There are people who copy without verifying. Use the information as clues as to where to get the documentation.

A Family History Center at a Latter Day Saints(Mormon) Church has lots of records on people all over the world, not just on Mormons. In Salt Lake City, they have the world's largest genealogical collection. Their Familly History Centers can order microfilm for you to view at a nominal fee.

They will not try and convert you or send their missionaries by to ring your doorbell.

Unless some member of your family has a documented family tree that will take you back to her, I don't think you can get the information in time for your cultural fair.

Try this website to help you out with your search and research. www.familysearch.org.

This site is maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has a lot of information on it.

Good luck.
