Here the louder voices generally come from the most violent, aggressive, bigotic, biased and intolerant users, and these same voices seem to have a sort of following here....

Rarely do many of the users here provide lukewarm answers when their beliefs are challenged, and too many engage in a reporting/bashing Jihad...

Those voices who call all to gather and make friends with everyone are deemed as hopeless Pollyannas asking boring questions and giving boring answers....

Whatcha say??

Any public forum, any news channel, tends to suffer from the "Squeaky wheel syndrome"
Those who make the most fuss, are most vehement, or violent, tend to get the attention. Here, it's just the incivility and the abusive language and attitudes (partial anonymity brings that out).
It's why apes fling excrement at the zoo: it gets a reaction. If people didn't react, they'd stop doing it.
But the world jumps to bad language, or bombs.

Meanwhile the world goes on, and our everyday experiences (for nearly all of us) belie the balance presented in the media.
Stephen Jay Gould wrote convincingly on this apparent paradox, in his essay "Ten thousand acts of kindness"

"The center of human nature is rooted in ten thousand ordinary acts of kindness that define our days."
