because before religion there was an empty niche, these sociopaths had nothing to use as an excuse.

along comes someone with a brilliant marketing ploy to fill a gap in society, bang religion is born.

EDIT: seriously though, that spoof is awesome, I used to hate that crap waiting for real cartoons to come on on saturday morning as a child.

Hmm. After watching it, I'm having a little trouble determining his viewpoint, believe it or not. At one point he seems to think it is a form of mental illness, although the illness should be psychopathy or schizophrenia, not sociopathy. Then he makes fun of God, which I'm not sure is supposed to matter to the story line. I suspect this is just a silly thing he thought would be funny. But religion, as with politics, provides some instant hot buttons for the creative artist to use. He could have set up Bush as the Goliath figure and when Davey says he's found God, Bush could say, "No, he's mine!" Works either way.

Are you implying that if there were no religion there would be no flaming sociopaths? Religion is the convenient scapegoat. If we are fair in our judgment, true religion has a beneficent effect on humanity. As the film shows, the ineffectual, ignorant parenting and the denial of reality is the likely culprit along with the child's undiagnosed psychosis and paranoia. All was not well in that seemingly perfect face the family puts on to convince itself that everything is hunky dory. The family was in denial of its dysfunction and the child's disease. The family could not accept than it or any of its members were not perfect. Even when the mother suspected something was amiss, she deferred to the father who was in even deeper denial of anything suggesting he or his family wasn't perfect.

"Flaming Sociopaths" will engage in their chosen "Deviant" behavior, and justify it in which ever way is most convenient for them, and do not need or, if they are true sociopaths, bother with excuses. The sociopath will see nothing wrong with his/her actions, and seek neither to Excuse or Justify, they see the problem as being worlds not theirs.

Those who abuse faith, of any doctrine, are more likely Psychopaths, who do not see the wrongness of their actions, but recognize that it is against societal rules, and they hide themselves among the faithful, so they can continue.

Flaming sociopaths can turn anything into an excuse for their deviance.

You must understand that these you claim who are flaming sociopaths are either one of two things.

They are either not doing the will of God or your hatred for believers has fogged your opinion.

Since you gave no explanation as to your rude comments, I assume you have never met a true believer in God and that you have never met God yourself.

Those who are of the faith will not be going around hurting others or killing others in the name of religion.

Yet, the only difference between a believer in Jesus Christ and one who is not is the believer has been saved by grace and has faith in God's Son that he with his help, we move from the world of sin. Yet, we are still very much capable of sin.

As for those who are going around hurting others intentionally, can they truly be children of the faith, saints of the Most High God when God's only begotten Son said to love our enemies?

So if a man is doing as you say, chances are he is just as yourself, one who is in the world, but he has deceived himself into believing he is doing the will of God.

I think your question answered itself if I must say so myself.

Religion has been the source of many of history's worst catastrophes. Specifically what I refer to as the Abraham Triangle.

Really brings out the meaning of "Killing in the name of..."

Just an atheist's $0.02

Not that it matters in this country anymore. You are free to believe anything you want as long as you believe in Christian Dogma.

Greetings to all the fellow atheists!

Sociopaths use all kinds of excuses, religion is just one of them.

It's because it's not healthy to internalize conversations with gods... it promotes schizophrenia. Unable to handle the non-existant relationship with an imaginary figure, they act out in violent and unexpected ways.

Think about it.
