why is that a problem should guys not know how to defend themselves, are only girls allowed to learn how to escape an attacker? as to your questions
1. peel it off scream and run, this is too vague to give a good answer there are hundreds of ways you can be choked from both the back and front
2. no its not, the cause of the difference in strength between men and women is testosterone, it has nothing to do with areas of the body, testosterone builds muscle, steriods are artificial testosterone, so no a female will not be stronger anywhere, unless the girl lifts and the guy doesn't
3. scream/yell drawn attention and get help, in the case of the arm turn towards the thumb to break the grip and run, hair do whatever it takes
4. whatever makes you feel comfortable, friends are the best bet if you think you will be attacked, a cell phone, pepper spray if you really want.
5. learn how to wrestle/do submissions, people spend their entire lives learning how to fight on the ground, one or two trick isn't going to cut it
also groin shots/eye gouges/etc are not as effective as you have likely been led to believe, all they will probably do is piss the person off
these apply to men and women, in a self defense situation you don't want to take any chance that you can lose, numbers greatly increase your chances, also if you are attacked the attacker is going to be physically superior to you, would be kidnappers/muggers/rapists do not attack people stronger than themselves, you will need help.
rule #1 for self defense is don't go anywhere that you are likely to be attacked, travel in groups if you must, and draw attention to yourself.

OK. First my background - I wrestled for 2 years in high school, and did karate for 2 years in college. I'm not exactly a tough guy or Navy SEAL, but I know a thing or two.
In my opinion self defense classes are a nice starting point, but just a beginning. Anything you do must be reflexing, second nature, and without hesitation or thinking. Think about a sport or activity you're good at - catching a baseball, sinking a basketball through a net, etc - something you can do without thinking. A good self defense program or martial arts teacher will have you drill simple, effective techniques so they are AUTOMATIC. In addition, you get to learn more, and variations of a technique, so if PLAN A doesnt work, you have a PLAN B. Just keep learning, even if for another year. Karate is good for stand up fighting but in the 2 years I studied we never reviewed disarm techniques or ground fighting. From what little I know, JU-JITSU seems to be very "broad spectrum" - meaning they want to train you for any conceivable scene - how to escape a hold, disarm a knife, get someone off you from a pinned position, etc.
Choke hold--drill this with a friend. 1-Have your (kind gentle) friend grab you around the neck, both hands. 2-raise both hands over the head, and rotaote to one side, bring your hands down. 3-their hands should slip right off your neck. This works from the front or back. PLAY WITH THIS AND FIND VARIATIONS . To escape a seated pin, view this web site . PS Also check out YouTube. Lots of good videos, just keep lookn.
The forgotten cornerstone of self defense - be alert. Most assaults are commited by people we know.
Peace.

To be honest there isnt much that can be taught with just words. You need pictures, and most importantly you need to actually practice defending yourself.
1. go for groin
2. scream as loud as you can
3. if possible run away!
I have met some girls with strong legs, but I wouldn't say they where stronger than men. Especially since guys strength can vary a lot.
Maybe you should lift weights? not only will it make you look better, add to your confidence, it will also give you a better chance of denfending yourself against a guy who is looking for a weak and easy target.
You should also consider taking self defense classes somewhere else. At least get a book... Some jiu jitsu would be good since it doesnt depend on strength, but lots of tecnique.

I view short courses like this with mixed feelings. I am sure we all agree that if it helps just one of you from becoming a victim and surviving then it was worth it. Unfortunately you are exposed to it for so little time and have limited opportunity to practice that the odds of you being able to recall some of this or execute it successfully in a situation are not great. Still some people do and so they still have some value. Your questions are good ones and since you have some curiosity about this I would check out some schools that have good self-defense programs and enroll in one of them. You will learn much more, develop your self-defense skills to a finer edge as well as your self confidence, and its a great way to stay in shape.

There are no surefire answers but, some helpful suggestions:
1. If someone has their arm around your throat from the back, try these -- stomp hard on their instep (top of foot toward the ankle), sharp elbow jab to the solar plexus or ribs, or throw your head back hard into their face. If they try to choke you from the front, try these -- knee to the groin, sharp kick to the shin, or try to break their hold by throwing your hands up and out sharply. In any of these instances, if you do break their hold, be prepared to run and/or attack them in some other way and BE LOUD. Draw attention to your situation, even if you have to yell FIRE.
2. Our muscle strength is proportioned differently. Don't know if we're actually stronger in lower body.
3. If someone grabs your hair or arm, don't pull away -- push yourself into them which will take the tension off their hold -- and be prepared to attack -- and BE LOUD.
4. Even your car keys or a strong pen can be helpful and not illegal. Aim for eyes, throat, groin, even ears.
If you end up on the ground, try to kick or roll. If they get right on top of you, try to butt your head into their nose. Again, BE LOUD.
Try not to be paranoid, but always be alert to your surroundings.
Good luck and may you never need any of these ideas.

if u end up on the ground, get up immediately, and if immediately isnt fast enough, kick them in the soulplexes.
If someone ever trys to choke you, make sure first you take their arm and get some breath, so you dont die in 2 seconds, then pull their arm away somehow. I cant really explain this move to you with words. I kinda needa show u. anyway, if anyone ever trys to hurt you, knee them in the guts. Hope i helped!
