HOW CAN i STOP MY DOG FROM EATING POOP?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Question

ok i have a beagle, shes 4 and she eats my other labs poop. We feed her a good amount of food in the morning and at night so shes not going hungry. I cant go around all day picking it up or putting stuff on it to make it taste bad (wow). And she knows I dont like her doing it because when i start walking towards her she runs away.
I no that buying stuff is a last resort but is there anything else i could do to make her stop? Its disgusting!

Some say dogs are extremely smart. Maybe so, but why then do they eat their own feces? It's a question worthy of the sphinx, but fortunately several sites have taken the time to write about how to stop the behavior.

According to BestFriendsPetCare.com, "if your dog is eating his own or even your cat's feces, there are products available that can be added to their food which work by making the feces taste very bad." One would think feces might taste bad enough on their own, but apparently not. Another alternative is a muzzle, though you must be sure to remove the muzzle whenever the dog is left unattended.

Another site, Doody Calls, writes that there are several off-the-shelf deterrents you can try. You can also try adding pumpkin or meat tenderizer to the dog's food. These additions make the dog less likely to "go back for seconds" if you know what I mean.

Finally, eHow lists a nice step by step guide on how to change your dog's behavior. You can also consult your local vet. The problem is relatively common, and I'm sure the doctor will have suggestions on how to fix it.

Get her a new bathroom--let her poop someplace the labs don't poop. Walk her in the front yard, the park, etc. You should be picking up the cr*p or spraying it with bitter apple. An easy way to take care of that is to wait for the dogs to poop and then use the spray gun on the hose and disintegrate it with water. Then there's nothing to pick up and nothing to eat.

Put your dog nose in it and at the same time spank your dog with a rolled newspaper. This will not hurt your dog but it is the noise, they don't like it. Also, you can pinch your dog with a pin or make a louder sound like a firecracker, anything that makes your dog very scared or disgusted...
As I know there are some small devicesthat make an electric shock. They don't harm your pet but create some kind of associated repulsion.

Change dog food, she might not be getting enough nutrients and make sure corn isn't listed on the ingredients. Also, try adding a little canned pumpkin mixed with the dog food.

whoa, first - one question mark and exclamation will do JUST FINE. It's a natural thing for dogs to do so don't freak out. my dog used to do it, and we corrected her and made sure we cleaned it up immediately after she went. and the best way to stop it is to care for your dog during the day and pick it up before she gets a chance - take the responsibility!

I would suggest picking up dog poop if you see it lying around (you don't have to do it "all day" just when you get time). When you are not home, try separating your dogs.

Well if your dog is eating another dog's poop thats just disguisting. If she starts eating the poop get her away from the poop, and don't keep letting her eat poop because its just nasty, very nasty. Maybe get her more toys or get her better food. That's all I know, sorry.

There is something you can get from the vet for this. I can't remember if you would give it to her, or if you give it to the other dog and the poop become unappealing, but it's supposed to work for it.

shes hungry believe it or not. shes like humans u cant just feed her in the morning and then her not get hungry for 8 hours . so she smells food in the poop

i know it was so disgusting, you have to put your pet dog on the cage, which is two feet above the ground with screen floor, in that way, your pet will not eat p.....!
