Tires could be out of balance or low on air. Otherwise it is probably in your steering.

Most likely your wheels are out of balance...start there.

When you bring it to a shop to get this done make sure they get a good look at your tires also. Choppy or unevenly worn tires can cause a vibration on the highway.

A highway vibration problem is not caused by a bad alignment, but if you do have choppy unevenly worn tires, you will need an alignment and most likely a bad suspension part replaced....along with new tires to end the vibration.

Tail wag a while is the 4 rear administration hyperlink bushings and panhard bar bushings. Differential with a seal leak must be fastened till now you run out of medicine oil. That fix may well be finished over haul or alternative of the differential. as quickly as the differential looses that is preload (turning resistance) you won't be able to easily tighten up (guessing how tight) changing the pinion nut and oil seals without inflicting the pinion shaft bearings to run to tight or loose and which will smash the bearings or differential gears. good success

Shakes where? older pathfinders tend to loosen the rear suspension bushings and wag there tails. Or is it felt in the floor or steering wheel?

It could be one of several things. The tires could be out of balance. One tire could have a broken steel belt. The front end may need alignment.Then you could have a bad tie rod, or control arm.

I listed my thoughts in order of cost. Check the tires first and go from there.
