My sister was petting him and he was licking himself and she noticed little white things around his butt. She keeps saying they are moving but I haven't seen one move, but I looked up cat worms and one of them said it's like the egg and it moves when it's first passed. I forgot which one though, anyway he is on my bed right now, should I wash all my bedding before I go to bed and keep him off my bed until we can get the worm situation under control?

The worms will die after they are passed, they will not crawl onto you. If it makes you feel better you can wash your bedding.

I always keep the other half, as long as it was cut hygienically and popped straight back in the foil bubble, no problems. I would advise that you crush the half pill and mix it with your cat's favourite food (I use canned tuna, they can't resist it) as the sharper edges of the half pill make it difficult for the cat to swallow. 3 monthly is recommended based on the time it takes for adult tape worms to reach maturity, I'm told. This way, even if your cat is picking up worm eggs daily, she should never have a fully matured worm in her. If she doesn't go out, worms shouldn't be a problem. You ca get Drontal on-line from VetUK without a prescrpition, just pay by the tablet.

Sounds like tapeworms. The egg sac that passes can move on its own, sort of like an inchworm moves......it will dry up and look like a sesame seed or piece of rice. You or another animal can not get tapeworms from coming in contact with the segment. Your cat has tapeworms because it has or has had fleas in the recent past. Call your vet and tell them you are seeing tapeworm segments. They may want to test a fecal sample to make sure that is the only parasite present. As tapeworm medication will not treat for any other intestinal parasite...... Wash your bedding and the cat's bedding to be rid of the dried segments, and to make you feel better.

I recently found out my kitty has worms, tapeworms. I'm gonna have to take her to the vet, but until then, I'm keeping her in one room (downstairs bathroom) so it's easy to disinfect everything, cause they said the likelyhood of passing it was high to humans (I have no idea, don't be scared.) I vaccuumed the floors, the furniture, mopped, sprayed lysol, vaccuumed the bed....

When in doubt, ask a vet.

And yeah, my kitty had fleas when we first got her, we got rid of them and every now in then we'd see a worm come out of her butt and crawl back in. And I just didn't worry, till last night she past a huge clump of them. Time for the vet. The prices for deworming+office visit total about $50 across the board at all the places I've called. Not too bad.

Hope your kitty is better soon!

They get tapeworm from eating a flea with the parasite. You can get de-wormer at any pet store, petsmart or petco. It's very effective, the trick is gonna be getting the cat to take the pill. I would wash my bedding and keep the cat off if it were me. Poor kitty. Go get it right now for your little friend. The sooner the better.

He has tapeworm and they get that from fleas. You need to get a good quality all wormer and worm him now and then in 6 weeks time do a tapewormer. Also need to treat for fleas.
Worm your cat every 3 months with an all wormer.

Go to the petstore tonight and get some wormer for your kitty. It sounds like she has roundworms. Little bits of them break off and come out the cat's anus. They look like grains of rice. This is probably what you saw.

As for your bedding, definitely wash your sheets in hot water before laying in it. I think roundworms can be passed to humans.

They are tapeworms. Treat for fleas as well, because they usually get them from fleas.
See the vet for medication, or go to feed store and get TRADEWINDS tablets. They dose by weight and are the same ingredient as Droncit from the vet.

Well, they shrivel up a little bit after they leave the cat. You should wash your bedspred. Go to the vet to get it comfirmed, and get the medication. Thats what you should do...
