Actually, the crusades ended in the 13th century. The european victory over the turkish troops assailing Vienna was led by polish prince Jan III Sobieski in 1683.

Hello,

Last I read there was a seige of Vienna; in 1529 by the Ottoman Turk leader Suleiman and the battle of Vienna in 1683 under Sultan Mehmet IV of the same empire. The Crusaders existed in the 12 and 13th centuries.

That said, there was nothing wrong with the Viennese and their allies defending the city.

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

The Battle of Vienna was between the Hapsburg and Ottoman Empires over control of the trade routes onto southern Europe. It had nothing to do with religion or with the Crusades.
What resulted from this battle was the subjugation of Eastern Europe by the Austro-Hungarian Empire, a rule oppressive enough that when the Serbs and Croats finally rose up against it the rebellion led to WW I.

The Islamic expansion into Europe (pre 9th Century) took place before the Crusaders existed (11th century).

Please do some history research and educate yourself about the topic before accusing Muslims...

If you are a Christian-no
If you are a Muslim-yes
Stop trying to jugde historical events in moral terms-they happened & your thinking they were right or wrong doesn't change the fact that they happend.
Instead learn the lessons of history & apply your moral values to what is happening here & now. This will be of more use.

the siege of vienna was in 1529. talking about 'crusaders' defending vienna makes as much sense as asking wyatt earp to go in and sort it out.

what is most amusing is that none of the other answers has noticed this.

religion has done a good job on american levels of education.

[edit]

or do you mean the battle of vienna in 1683?

No. They were defending innocent people from potential oppressors.

Youre wrong! The crusaders were nothing more than bloodthirsty murderers and terrorists. the crusaders were the invaders.

Whether you been there or not you apparently do not know history at all.
