Substitute For Vegetable Oil

any of those oils will work, but corn oil is better than canola because canola is not as moist and your cupcakes might stick. But basically any oil that comes from any kind of a vegetable - corn, olive, etc. will work well.

Any of those oils would work well. Don't worry, changing the oil from vegetable to canola or corn won't harm your cupcakes. I hope they turn out well.

The answer you looking for is they are interchangeable and you can substitute one for the other.

I gave you some information on other oils if the question ever arises again and you would like to know the differences.

Sunflower oil, Vegetable oil, Grapeseed oil, Canola oil
Fairly little taste. Fairly low smoke point.

Butter
Slight taste, usually not noticeable in the end product. Very low smoke point.

Olive oil
Moderate to strong flavour depending upon the style. Medium smoke point.

Sesame oil
Very strong flavour, plays an important part in certain Japanese and Chinese recipes. Medium smoke point. Do not use this oil in salad dressings — it will drown out the flavour of the other ingredients.

Grapeseed oil
Very mild flavour, very high smoke point. It remains slippery for longer than most other oils. Ideal for sautés, making crunchy jacket potatoes and high temperature oven cooking.

Peanut oil
Noticeable flavour, high smoke point. Often used in salad dressings.

Walnut oil
Noticeable flavour, fairly low smoke point. Better for salad dressings than for cooking.

Avocado oil
Noticeable flavour, but not overpowering. Extremely high smoke point. Very viscous — less of this oil is needed when cooking.

hope this helps. good luck.

Canola and Corn are both types of Vegetable Oils...so you are set to go! Wish I could be there to taste :)

Yes. You can use canola or corn oil as a replacement to vegetable oil. I would not recommend peanut or olive oil for that. Hope this helps!

As a Chief, any oil will work but rather than use any of these oils, ((Cupcakes will have an after taste to them!)) melt your butter down into a liquid form and use that instead, or melted margarine. Trust me I'm a cook LOL.

Canola oil typically specifies that is a good substitute for any recipe that calls for vegetable oil. I used it recently for frying and was pleased with the results.

Enjoy your cupcakes :)
