use. I like Joel Osteen and his messages are so inspiring! I love the bible but thought something more "spirtual" and "new age" would be nice for a quote or line at the end of my messages board post, email, etc. Not "God Bless You" or "Acts 10:38" type thing. Thanks.

Mar 6:50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.

Yes, God Bless You is rather over used and unfortunately generic sounding anymore. Like "How are you" - everyone says it and everyone wonders if anyone really means it when they hear/read it

Now if one were to use a verse reference (such as Acts 10:38) it wouldn't mean much, since most Christians would have to go look it up (which I just did and it wouldn't make a good quote since it falls in the middle of a larger quote). I mean I know a lot of verses, but I don't always know their addresses. Now there are those who use lines from Scripture but don't cite the verse. Sometimes I close with "Peace be with you," which is a quite ancient Christian exchange, the response to which is "And also with you," or "And your spirit," if you are conversing in person or via IM.

You might want to use books by Christian authors that you like as a source of a good quote. C. S. Lewis's works are full of good ones. Jan Karon has a book of quotations that came out several years ago as a sidebar to her Mitford series of novels. I have heard of Osteen but haven't read any of his stuff, but maybe you can find something there, though Karon's book of quotes would give you the widest range.

As for my sigline I use |><)))*> under my name and often add further down (in e-mails - in 8pt Arial with the URL in blue underline natch):

Every three seconds a child dies from poverty related causes, every eight seconds the death is from water borne causes.
Visit one.org to learn how you can be a part of the movement to Make Poverty History.

So you don't even have to use a quote, you can use your sigline to advocate a cause that is important to you.

I like John 21:3, when Peter says, "I am going fishing."

The reason I don't use it is because right after that, they went fishing all night and caught nothing.

The bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit. What's wrong with using a scripture out of the bible. Are you sure you are a christian?
