First of all, the Law of God is not a bad thing...even today. It is not bad to honor your father and mother, it is not bad to take a day of rest, it is not bad to stay off your neighbour's wife or to steal or kill and such. So please don't throw the babies out with the bath water. Jesus did not come to destroy that law but to become the living law that could live within us and bring us to a relationship of desire to obey His basic commandments.
As for killing your disobedient children...not so fast. What death was he talking about? And how had the parents failed the child so miserably to bring about this final failure?
You bring complicated issues to impertinent demands. It would be better to spend time in a chat room and go step by step over these issues so that a full understanding could be understood. Up for it? Legamin@yahoo.com

Yes, He did. This is a quote from the Old Testament, not advice to actually "kill" disobedient children, though He is reiterating the truth that children need to honor their parents. Also, in the Old Testament, "die the death" could have and often did mean to be rejected by the people of God rather than to actually be put to death.

You have interpreted this incorrectly. To read it in perspective you must include what surrounds it.
Jesus and his followers did not follow the tradition of their elders. The Pharisees and scribes were accusing them of not honoring their elders and their religious tradition of rituals. Jesus called them hypocrites for only paying lip service to God. They didn't love and worship God with their hearts. Their rituals and traditions were man's doctrines, not God's.
Jesus then speaks what Moses said, "To Honor Thy Father and Mother" or be put to death. He accuses them of taking money from the wage earners who support their parents. These monies that they payed to the priests could have been used to help their parents, but the children who did not wish to honor this law used the law for their own selfish means. Meaning, the excuse for not supporting ones father or mother is, "whatever I have, I give to God". It was a "fleecing of the lamb".
Jesus then told the Pharisees and scribes that by their own religious traditions they had invalidated the word of God, and he went on to say they do this and more.
Jesus did not believe in upholding the Jewish law in MANY ways. He does bring a new law. The law of brotherly love and to love God above all else, because we are ALL Sons of God. God is our Father, we are his children.

Some people do not understand the true content to many scriptures do to mistranslating. Jesus did not come to"change" the law, but to fulfill it! When I was taking in depth bible studies this fact was explained to me using chapter and verse. I am not good at that, so if anyone knows what I am referring to would you please be so kind as to witness it here.
It has been so many years I have forgotten so much, but I do remember the central idea! Thank you for saying and quoting what i could not remember to the two people above me. I am happy that you contributed your knowledge!

Understand the laws of God. If you raise a rebellious child that disobeys God, God will put that child to death in eternal hell. You cannot raise a child that will not humble himself before the Lord, if you do God will kill him.
Apostle Paul said, "Do you not know that you will judge angels?" Jesus said, "we would rule and reign with him."
What are you going to do if you are told to judge your own child on judgment day? And God says, I never knew him, send that child to the lake of fire.
It is very important that parents teach their children to respect and honor them, even if it means spankings.
Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16

Jesus was a Jew, raised as a Jew, and followed Jewish law. The new law didn't go into effect until he was crucified. He attempted to show the scholars of the law the intent of the law, because they were more into the letter of the law.
Big difference between "kill them" and "let him die..." just as there is a difference between physical and spiritual death.

The OT laws were in fact given to the Jewish people, yet those laws were only to point the way to Jesus Christ. If the laws of God could rid a people of their sinful and evil nature, Christ would not had to come and die on the cross. As He did, He took upon himself our sin, our disobedience, our evil nature and desires and it was placed upon Christ and He took our pain, our suffering, our punishment, our judgment, our condemnation and our sentence to hell. The law was then complete in him. No longer would we be ruled by laws save the law of unconditional love. When a person receives Jesus, their sins are forgiven and never remembered no longer and they are set free which the law could not do.,The law reminded us that we were sinners, it reminded us that we were defiled before God but now through Christ we are no longer under the curse of death, but we have been given new life as though we have never sinned. we are washed and cleansed by God and placed on His path of righteousness and are ordained as kings unto Christ and when Christ returns we shall reign and rule with Him on this earth for 1000 years. We shall be given Crowns for our service and faithfulness to the God of Glory and those who reject Jesus Christ, forfeits their rights to this coming kingdom and they will die the death of sinners and judged..Yes, we have a new Covenant under Grace. And we are not bound by the laws of the OT for we are free and it is by the Spirit of the living God that we are able to have the power and dominion that was stolen from Grandpa Adam and do the mighty works of Christ until He returns and this is the Gospel that Christ came and proclaimed to the world and religions are man made and send people straight to hell but Christianity is a relationship with Almighty God and we are now the children of the Most High whether we be Jew or Gentile, we are all ONE in Christ.

The Holy Scriptures are like an organism. you can't rip off a toe and say this is shaped weird. why?
Also, they can not be interpreted by an unbelieving mind and scarcely by a believing mind. The Holy Spirit must give life to them or they are just nicely arranged ink-blots.

You need to read the verses before and after this one. Its about accepting Christ as Savior. The death He speaks of is life without Him.
