The old testament talks about good people by the standard of the law and doing whats right. The new testament talks about no one being good on their own but needing faith in God; this is the standard of grace. The kingdom of God is just that God's kingdom not man's. God wants more for people than they can possibly imagine and doing mans laws and being good can't measure up to the grace that God wants to pour out upon the world. Being a good person on your own is not enough and can not compare to the goodness that God will fill you with when He has your faith and obedience. The kingdom of God is not going to heaven when you die that is a misconception. Jesus gave several defenitions of what the kingdom is like. The Kingdom is here and now it comes from your heart and you allow God to establish a kingdom work within your heart when you put your faith in Him. That Kingdom of grace, truth and righteousness will bless and change the whole world.

I believe that I am a good person by God's standards, but I think I have a lot of preparing to do if I want to be ready in time for the big day.

No one is fit for Heaven by God's standards. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Only through Jesus the Messiah, can anyone stand blameless before the Almighty God.

By God's standards, the only way a person is fit for the Kingdom of God is if they have repented of their sins and received Jesus Christ as their saviour. I have done that, have you?

Depends on which standards you are referring to. I'll create a standard here just for a fun discussion:
I believe that as the Children of God we are obligated to act as God would act in the Bible. This is the only path to Heaven and the only way God would consider us to be "good enough."
So now I can kill anybody who doesn't listen to me.
I can blackmail those who do not cooperate with me.
I can burn to ash homosexuals.
Kill the firstborn children of our enemies as a warning.
and so on...
So by this standard no I'd be unable to get into Heaven since I don't believe this is a good way to act.
Which standard are you referring to?

Best forget the good person idea.He says there
is not one good person. No not one.God's standards won't work. This would be the law.
Jesus said that the kingdom would be in us.That
would be his Holy Spirit that indwells the believer.Being fit for the kingdom is a person
who has their sins washed in the blood.

Gods standard is in the bible.Who is a good person in the sight of God accdg to bible? The one who is following His commandment of course.i just dont know the verse.
What is the kingdom of God here in earth?we know in the prayer taught by Jesus"our Father who art in heaven holy be your name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"(is that right?sorry i dont have my english bible here,im not a english speaker)if you can observe at that time they are asking that the kingdom hopefully may come.So it came.Mat 6:33 seek ye first the kingdom....so God commanded the people or the people seeking Him to seek the kingdom and He will not say that if the kingdom is not here and cant be found...

By God's standards no one is fit to enter the Kingdom of God, but through his mercy, His son Jesus Christ we were made heirs of the Kingdom and in turn made fit, out of love, grace and mercy.
May God's name be praised always, may his Son be our guide of how to live and may the Spirit be our lamp.

Well, by God's standards, no one is PERFECT. But if you follow the bible and listen to the 10 commandments,(which I try to do) I think you or whoever will be good enough for God's kingdom. Does that aswer your question? ~ Meghan L
