Newfs DO NOT like the heat. They don't. I live in upstate NY and it get a little hot and humid in the summer, and the Newfs HATE IT!!!!!! We had a dusting of snow and a windy cold day today, and they were thrilled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were so happy that it was cold!!
Living inside is not the greatest either. They love being outside. Mine would rather be outside in the summer in the shade, but if it ws always 100+ out, they would not be happy.
And you DO NOT shave a Newf. The coat acts as insulation in the cold and hot, but it has it's limits.
And when you see the Newfs in FL or other hot climates, they look awful. They NEVER get a proper coat and tend to look like Flat-Coats.
If the average temp is not TOO hot, you can probably make do. But unless there is a winter time when they can enjoy COLD, it will not be ideal for them.

I live in Kansas, US. It gets to 100+ (f) here in the summer. The thick fur acts to buffer the temp. They will shed a lot at first but will be fine. Like the other person said, keep them inside. All dogs should be kept inside.

I have friends in Miami that have newfies- of course they don't leave them outside all day, but they seem quite well adapted.
