Catfish are good eaten when cleaned and prepped properly.

To clean a catfish it is best to have Catfish pliers to remove the skin.

Once you clean your fish up you can put it in sat water and vinegar. his will remove any toxins still left in the meat.

Toxins are greasy and will not fry crisp no matter how long you keep the fish in the cooking oil. It will burn first.

Toxins are located below the dorsel fin opn the meat section. It will look yellowish and fatty. That is toxic and not good to eat,. Some people will cut that part out, but then you waste meat. All you have to do is soak the fish in vinegar and sat water and the toxins will be sucked right out of the meat and it will nice and white.
I've been eating fish all my life and inspecting your fish meat is one thing you must always be eye balling.

I have found many parasites on fish meat and when I do it's best to throw the fish away. You can spot parasites becasue the meat will have a slimy red spot and you may see it in several places. That's bad. Throw the fish away.

Cat fish are great eating, but are best when caught in cleaner and clearer water. The hardest part of cleaning is removing the skin, which must be done as they have no scales. One trick is to drive a nail through the head and attach the fish to a sturdy board or even to a tree. Make a shallow cut just through the skin behind the head and gills, pull the skin off back toward the tail. Then remove the entrails and head. Now you can fillet or cook whole.

Use any kind of batter, breading, or seasoning you like, fry, and enjoy.

Catfish are excellent fried or deep fried. Cleaning is a bit of a hassle though. First use a hammer or some heavy blunt object to kill the fish, slam the top of the head, between the eyes with the blunt object. pour very hot water, almost boiling but not quite, all over the fish, do it slowly as to avoid 'precooking' the fish. then cut the spikes with large pliers or something tough enough to cut bone. then scrape the goo off the skin with a knife. then just filet it. keep in mind catfish have a broad and strong chest cavity, its easier to cut around the rib cage, not through it. i almost forgot, try to avoid cutting the intestines when gutting the fish. catfish shi t has a very pungent odor.

They're excellent eating. The skin is a little tough to cut while you're cleaning it, but there aren't any scales. Watch out for the "horns" -- sharp, spiky thorn-line protruberances at the dorsal and - um - "side" fins.

They are a bottom feeder, true: a little gross when you think what THEY eat. But so are lobsters, crawfish, and real estate agents when you think about it.

They taste great, yet are scavengers.

I don't know where the best fishing spots are in your country, simply because I am from the U.S.

I can tell you this: You can always buy fresh catfish from your local fishmarket in Brisbane.
