saying that games will have a universal format so you can play them no matter what system you have.

I seriously doubt that this will ever happen. If a universal console came out then there would be no competition between consoles.

And plus, if there ever was going to be a Universal game console, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would all have to work together to make one. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo have their own individual goals for their systems, and there is no way that they all could agree on one idea.

If a universal system hasn't came out yet, then it probably will never happen. Different game consoles such as the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii uses different game technology and there will most likely never be a Universal game console.

Nope, the gaming divisions for each company would have to merge into one. The rules of basic economics would not let that happen. Well, they might, if the merge between the three would make the consoles at a lower costs of all three companies combined. I'll tell you what, game programmers would love that.

NO. There is no money it THAT. HOWEVER there are talking about Crossplatform compatibility. which means you can play against the differents systems ONLINE. We'll see if that happens.
