The Anglo-Saxon invasion came before the Norman. The Saxons were mostly Germanic, starting with the invasion of the Vikings into Germany. The Norman, French. Every country has had its share of invasions. The Spanish colonized way before the English, and were the most powerful country in the world during the rule of Ferdinand and Isabella. The Dutch colonized, the French......... so why target just England.

I think what you do not appear to be able to grasp, it the factors on why many Brits are unhappy.
Immigration has always been a steady rate into our country. But since certain countries joined the EU the rate of immigrants from certain countries (usually the poorer countries) has overwelmed the British system to the point the NHS, the police, the housing shortages the schools are all in need of help.
Basically the degree of immigrants (legals and otherwise) has been overwelming. While in the US immigration is a long and steady occurance in the UK it is not.
BBC news 1st link
Between 1991 and 2001, half of Britain's population growth was due to immigration, although it is impossible to predict what will happen next.
What is clear is that every region of Britain has experienced migratory change – but there are great differences in the rates of change, the actual numbers and who the newcomers are.
London continues to see the greatest change - and the immigration story of Britain is predominantly the story of the south. Its economic pull cannot be denied. In contrast, population falls in some areas have only been prevented by increased migration.
Anyhow, I would watch out it look like the EU wants to take over the world! BBC news
"Foreign Secretary David Miliband has suggested the European Union should work towards including Russia, Middle Eastern and North African countries.
He said enlargement was "our most powerful tool" for extending stability.
In his first major speech on the UK's relationship with Europe, he said the EU would not become a "superpower" but should be a "role model" for the world"
Read the report on the BBC 2nd link
But then PM Brown (3rd link) says British jobs for British People, so maybe the tide is turning? "Gordon Brown's statement that he wants "British jobs for British workers" has created a political furore.
Britain must be a "world leader" in business and science, the PM said
Opponents have described it as meaningless, illegal under EU law, even racist.
But the prime minister's supporters say it is all about equipping the long-term unemployed in Britain to do the jobs needed in an increasingly skills-based economy.
EDIT You are from Northern Ireland, you do realise that makes you British? Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom? So you are laughing at yourself?

What goes around comes around.
All that 'civilising' they did made the 'civilised' hungry for more or hungry for revenge.
I think the Brits are still in all of those countries, still trying to redraw their idea of Iraq, Afghanistan, still meddling in Pakistan. They removed something from all of them self governance, killed the intelligentsia and left te corrupted inept one to take control, it spreads unrest and highlights sectarianism, from Ulster to Baghdad.
Recently the King of Saudi Arabia, (another creation of the fallout of the british empire), came to London with his puff-daddy-like entourage, 5 jumbo jets. Why was he here, to discuss the next phase of the British empire? Ask for the brits to ditch the pound for the euro,so he can ditch the dollar. Buy more weapons , ask for refresher courses on subjugation and oppression of his peoples?
The empire still exists, just in a subtle way. The courts of Pakistan and Jamaica are still linked to the highest court in the UK.
The ruling classes in the UK are not complaining about immigration, they have given it the green light. Their legions of working class and now the middle class malcontents are grumbling, so throw more grateful, productive immigrants into the mix. The work will get done and if they moan too much throw a recession on them and blame the immigrants!
Immigrants are an easy scapegoat, but as previously highlighted history starts in 1066 the Norman invasion, the royals and their aristo-twistos are all part of that . The house of Saxony-Coburg, became the house of Windsor and the mugs bought it.
Should Mr Khan change his name to Jonny Southall to be more user friendly? This whole debate is deep and acomplex and not just about a few little englanders having to stand in the post office queue out in the stix with a few young Poles.
It is systemic, it is constitutional, it is heavvyyy
I love the UK and its people, thank god we are not fighting over this to make our feelings known. That is another reason why people like to come here, we have relative calm and stability.

I for one feel that here in Britain we are reaping what we sowed. I think it was disgusting the way the English just barged in and annexed countries they had no right to, but being bitter about it wont help, after all, it was not this generation which was responsible for what happened years ago, but yes, we are paying the price now. We Scots were cleared out of our country too and my ancestors had to settle in the first place they found, mainly Nova Scotia (New Scotland) in Canada. We are still stubbornly holding onto land I feel we have no right to, like Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands. But don't blame this generation, we did nothing.

True the British are a mixed race all right BUT the mix WAS made from from a fighting, then invading force which, at the time, was superior or just got lucky.
It is a totally different force that invades today as they come with begging bowls to be filled through the NHS and DHSS. Hardly a superior invading force, just a bunch of freeloader that take advantage of our softly softly weak government and fat cats who could not really care less about Britain as they are rich enough to live elswhere or at least away from the scrounging scum.
That is the difference o thick one, we invaded countries by superiority of force and intellegence and gave the world great buildings, organisation, roads, rails and many other things.
ALL the foreign scum bring with them is aids, t.b a few kebab /takeaway outlets , and violence trouble and hate.

Methinks he doth protest too much!
Just because we once ruled most of the world does not mean we want them all to come and live here.
I find the logic of your argument a little odd, our immigrants want to come and live here because it's better than their own country. Mostly because their own people have made their home countries pretty dire places to live in.
That, of course, includes a great many Irishmen!
But obviously, Ireland (both bits) has been such an enormously succesful society over the years, that you would naturally look on England as a bit backward.
We hardly ever use bombs or guns to kill our own people, we have the rule of law, we don't much care which religion you are and for the last few years (about a 1000) we have always won.
Just like Ireland...oh wait - no it's not.

If you are from NI I believe that also makes you a 'brit'? Personally I am English and rightfully concerned about what is happening now in my country. Harping back to historical events is irrelevant since immigration to England is at unprecedented levels. I am assuming you don't live in England and therefore are not suffering the effects of unrestricted immigration. Therefore although you have every right to express your opinion, no matter how ignorant, it doesn't make you well informed, or correct.

So we want to shut the doors now .It is only a small country and it is getting too full.. nothing to do with race or who.. It is the number of people who can exist on this small island.. A halt has to made soon.. There are not enough houses, there are not enough jobs, there are not enough doctors and nurses. there are not enought schools and teachers.. So what is here for the immigrants... Are they any better off than in their own countries.

Ok I'm Welsh and I want to ask:
When did we invade Poland?
Because I don't see how we're "reaping what we sowed" from them. And yet we've got more Poles over here than in Warsaw.
Plus they are all coming into Wales too.
Anyway, last I heard of it, Ireland was drowning in immigrants as well. Whats your excuse?
