I don't see any problem with bringing a bottle of wine with you into the limo (or even the restaurant)--and you've got a built in designated driver; way to go! (Why doesn't the minibar have wine, by the way? If there's a rule against it, don't bring your own either. If they just charge you an arm and a leg for stuff from the minibar, by all means bring your own.)
Like I said, wine would be nice--classy for a classy date. I'm leaning away from champagne (seems too glitzy for some reason and I've just never liked it that much) and more towards a nice red wine. Go to a good liquor store with a strong wine selection and talk to someone who works there about what kind you and your boyfriend would like. Personally, I prefer shiraz or chianti. My boyfriend likes sweeter white wines, but he'll go for those reds now and then.
Don't forget to bring a corkscrew, uncork it before you leave, or check to be sure the limo will have one on hand--if you are drinking it in the limo. Otherwise, you'll be staring at a lovely bottle you can't open. AND you might want to ask if they (the limo or restaurant--wherever your plan to drink it) will charge you to uncork the bottle you bring. Lots of bars and restaurants do and it can end up being more than the price of the bottle itself. (Sometimes it's still a better deal than buying a bottle of wine at the restaurant--typical markup can be 200-300% of the wholesale price.)
Have a really fun date and happy anniversary!

The limo should provide something in the mini-bar, but all the same; I think a nice bottle of wine.

It depends on how long you have been drinking, how drunk you want to get. It also depends on taste. Most europeans (like me) prefer to start with cider when you are 15. You can drink at a younger age here.
Goldschläger and Jägermeister which are european drinks are reallz good. For getting drunk or Poitin which is an Irish moonshine. It is a great unique drink, drink a small glass, and any drink even soda will make you drunk. Im not sure how it works. if you want to look sophisticated, but not get drunk, drink wine, or brandy.

I haven't heard before that someone takes alcohol with them on a date. But if you are asking what you should drink while you are out, drink what you like. Be safe.

Champagne or wine. It seems like a classy evening. I would stay away from beer.
