I don't understand why people bash Jr for having doors opened for him. Ya wanna know who else had a dad who brought him up in racing? Richard Petty. Heck, even Dale Sr grew up around racing. Dale Jr may have had doors opened for him, but he still can drive.

Did anyone pay attention to the season Steven Wallace had? I'd be willing to bet that he does not make it in NASCAR's top series. Look at Ricky Hendrick (RIP) he had everything handed to him, and he never made it as a driver. With today's competition, it takes more than a last name to make it at the Cup level.

Go do some research on Dale Jr....and come back next yr this time and ask the question again....He is going to be in great equipment next yr...you will see...He has the talent, just put him in something worth driving...not the crap he has had this yr...

Solid question, but then again it's pretty well impossible to succeed in motor sports without a supportive family. Even karting costs a fair bit of money, and an early start is essential to becoming a professional driver.

Man what a dumba*s, seriously you act like this year is a typical year for Jr. How about looking at last year when there was only two blown motors and never went below 11th(and that was only twice and lasted only a week at a time). Keep this in mind, yes Kurt Busch and Matt Kenseth have won championships, but Kennseth still has less wins and Busch finally caught up to Jr this year. Just having the Earnhardt name does not guarantee you a ride(Just what is Kerry doing these days? Plus he never drove for DEI), Jr had to prove himself to Sr before he got his Busch ride. Sr was not the type to just hand stuff to his kids, they had to work for it, sorry.

He's a very good driver. He's gonna be better next year w/ some decent equipment. He'll qualify for the Chase & I bet he'll have 2-3 wns, but he'll have a ton more top 10 finishes.

He's won 17 Cup races and 2 Busch Series championships. Father's name or not, the guy can drive a race car.

Jr. is what he is! Nine DNF,s a 15th place driver. He is where he is because he abuse,s his car.Yes he can drive. But it takes more than driving. Just look at David Pearson,s record. And his driving style,105 wins and lead the least laps.Just the last one!

His dad might have gotten him in the door...but, he had to keep himself there. He did a great job racing this year actually. He was very exciting to watch. He just didn't have the cars to finish.

With or with his Father's name he would be where he is! With or with out the start he would be the "Great Driver" he is!
