I agree with the Bible definition of a Christian -- One who has, and is led by, the holy spirit of God (1 John 4:13, Romans 8:9).

And the Bible lays the criteria as well:
- Repent of past sins (Mark 1:15, Luke 13:3, Acts 8:22),
- Believe the Gospel (Mark 1:15),
- Baptized into the Name of God, into the son, and into the holy spirit, and receive the holy spirit (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38, 3:19).

I believe as I do, because the Way is right and good; it is the most logical way to live for achieving happiness, peace and prosperity -- not to mention, eternal life.

No one is yet saved. Have you not read, "He who endures to the end is saved" (Matthew 24:13)? And we haven't reached the end yet.

The true Church of God is NOT a denomination; it is one body, not many with varying beliefs, conflicting and non-biblical doctrines. The true Christian is willing to change his wrong ideas in order to be conformed with the Word of God, not stuck in the mandates and dogma of a denomination.

I am a Christian that attends a Southern Baptist church, but don't really consider myself to be a Southern Baptist. A Christian to me is someone that believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God, born of a virgin, was crucified, dead and buried and resurected. A Christian believes in the Divine Trinity (three manifestations of one God). A saved Christian is anyone that believes these things and ACCEPTS the gift of salvation offered by Christ. I believe that all true Christians have received the Holy Spirit, but I cannot determine who is or is not a Christian as only God knows the heart of a man.

That you believe in Jesus, sent by God. That He is the Son of God, and that He came here to be the final offering for attonement/forgiveness. That he died for everyone's sins, and after He was burried, that He was resurrected in the same body and ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father.

Works (trying to do good and not sin) do not get you into heaven....Jesus does.

This is what the Bible teaches and this is why I believe it.

I won't go into who I consider to be saved Christians, because I don't know their whole stance on salvation, and everyone is different when it comes to exactly what they think will get them into heaven.

I guess I'm pentecostal, but that's only because that's the type of church I attend.

All who come to God in The Way He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation. Those become part of The Body of The Church of which Jesus The Christ is The Head. Those are the ones of The True Christian Faith. Only those of The Church will enter Heaven.

"denominations" are not part of The Way God prescribes for those who whould come to Him.... I am of The Chruch... but I fellowship on this Earth with a small concervative Baptist congregation.... and I also attend, from time to time , other "denominations"...

Why do I "believe".... I was in need...God was there... he called...I responded in The Way He prescribed... My Salvation is assured.... just God and me... no man, pastor, priest, or doctine or dogma of man involved... one-on-one with God...

Baptist Christian here.

A true Christian is a person who has put his or her faith and trust in the person of Jesus Christ and fact that He died on the cross as payment for sins and rose again on the third day to obtain victory over death and to give eternal life to all who believe in Him. John 1:12 tells us: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.” A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Christ. The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4; 1 John 2:10).

One who is "born again of water and the Spirit". That means Holy Baptism. It's only something God can do...nothing we can do on our own.

John 1:32 - when Jesus was baptized, He was baptized in the water and the Spirit, which descended upon Him in the form of a dove. The Holy Spirit and water are required for baptism. Also, Jesus’ baptism was not the Christian baptism He later instituted. Jesus’ baptism was instead a royal anointing of the Son of David (Jesus) conferred by a Levite (John the Baptist) to reveal Christ to Israel, as it was foreshadowed in 1 Kings 1:39 when the Son of David (Solomon) was anointed by the Levitical priest Zadok. See John 1:31; cf. Matt. 3:16; Mark 1:9; Luke 3:21.

John 3:3,5 - Jesus says, "Truly, truly, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." When Jesus said "water and the Spirit," He was referring to baptism (which requires the use of water, and the work of the Spirit).

John 3:22 - after teaching on baptism, John says Jesus and the disciples did what? They went into Judea where the disciples baptized. Jesus' teaching about being reborn by water and the Spirit is in the context of baptism.

"(a) Professing perception in Jesus as Christ or following the religion based on the existence and teachings of Jesus. (b) Manifesting the characteristics or spirit of Jesus; Christlike." those are the two definitions interior the dictionary, and each Christian on earth adheres to a minimum of one or the two considered one of those definitions. the two a Christian is everybody who claims to be a Christian, or a Christian is somebody who follows the training of Jesus. Christian fundamentalists tend to coach the 2nd definition, so those are the adult adult males which you notice talking approximately "authentic" Christians for all time.

Not even Babtism is a requirement. One needs only to profess and believe that Jesus Christ is God and has died for one's sins. It is really as simple as that. It's all the other opinions and legalistic viewpoints that cause your confusion. If you truly believe this Jesus will make his way into your heart and the rest will be your relationship with him. He will show you the rest in his way and time. Hope this helps
