In a recent post, someone stated: "Being born again means that you've accepted God as your personal Savior." Wow, what a statement. (I think she meant Jesus).
Where o' where does it say to "accept Jesus as your personal Savior." in the Bible? It does not. Do people realize that this concept totally nullifies the covenant that the Father established? Being a Christian can be summarized in two words: Divine Sonship. God fathers a family. We are a FAMILY. There is nothing personal about that.
People who speak in terms of being "saved" miss the whole boat. Being a Christian means being part of the family of God. It does NOT mean getting a "Get Out Of Hell Free" card.
And how do we enter this family? Through baptism. THAT is why we baptise infants. THAT is what being born again means. THAT is when the notion of Mary, the saints, calling priests father, and everything else falls into place - when you understand the meaning of COVENANT and FAMILY. Is there ANYBODY that grasps this?

You are absolutely correct. Dr. Scott Hahn seems to have influenced you.
People should read Scott Hahn - a former Presbetyrian pastor turned Catholic - and his BRILLIANT teachings on "covenant". You have pegged it perfectly.

I don't agree w/ infant baptism. A baby doesn't know what it believes, it is the parents making the choice. No where in the Bible do we read that Jesus told or instructed to baptize babies. Infact, he was talking to adults. He did compare being born again to accepting Him w/ child like faith. John 15:1-17 talks about abiding in the true vine. It means you are in Christ and obey, know, accept and have a relationship w/ Jesus. God offered Christ as the personal savior but no one has to take the offer, it is each mans choice.

By taking the Lord as our personal savior we are committing ourselves to him in a close relationship. We are his he is ours. By doing this we are born again spiritually, into the family of God. We are adopted sons and daughters. Baptism doesn't save a person it's accepting him and what he did for us on the cross that's important. Was Jesus baptized as an infant? Or any babies in the new testament.

Generally when I hear people go on about being born again, it refers to the fact that they lived wild, illegal, or a what have you kind of life until realizing the hole their stuck in. Then they accept Jesus or God or whatever you want to call it and felt reborn... due to the fact that it's a complete shift from their life thus far. Could be wrong though...

Mat 9:22 But turning and seeing her, Jesus said, Daughter, be comforted; your faith has saved you. And the woman was saved from that hour.
Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Luke 7:50 And He said to the woman, Your faith has saved you, go in peace.

Catholics are spiritually born lower back (and often) via: • concept in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior • residing the Gospel to the appropriate of our skill • on a regular basis rededicating ourselves to Jesus Christ • Receiving new existence in Baptism • The forgiveness of sins in the path of the Sacrament of Reconciliation • The infusion of the Holy Spirit by making use of the laying on of palms in confirmation • Taking the physique and Blood of Jesus Christ into our bodies in the path of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) • Even in the time of the penitential season of Lent those are some techniques that Catholics are spiritually born lower back. We often do exactly no longer use those words. With love in Christ.

I don't know which if any seminary you attended and I don't mean to offend you at all.
-----------------------------------
Oh where do I begin?
-------------------------------------
First of all one of the differences between Christianity and Islam is that the God of the Bible is a "personal" God.
Born again is translated from the Greek "anayehneeMEHnos",, born anew or born from above.
If God is our Father and we are His children then that is in fact a personal relationship.
-------------
As far as accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour, that's easy. Romans 10:9 makes it clear that we are to declare Jesus as our Lord and believe in the Resurrection. You must understand that for a Jew to declare someone his Lord(it was Paul who wrote this who is in fact a Pharisee) is to declare Him as his God.
You understand of course that there are really only two Lords in this life. Satan by default(because of the fall) and Jesus by choice through Faith. (See Eph 2:8-9)
-------------------------------------
In Jhn 15:15 Jesus states: Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Once again friendship is a personal relationship.
You have stated that as Christians we are in Divine Sonship.
And we are FAMILY. That is personal relationship, ipso facto, q.e.d. or whatever.
--------------------------------------------
In Mark 16 Jesus states: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
So the believing one is "saved" and in fact is handed a
"Get Out Of Jail Free" card.
--------------------------------------
You are correct when you say that we enter into this family by baptism, but you have omitted the first part of the verse which states that it is the "believer" that is baptized. A baby can trust, but to believe is a great stretch. I don't think we begin to believe or trust in Jesus till at least a couple of years go by.
In fact I received infant baptism but I was baptized again as an adult. I did this in willingness to be obedient to my Lord Jesus. And when I go to Israel I will get baptized in the Jordan
again.
---------------------------
Furthermore because of Eph 2:8-9 and Romans 10:9 and
Luke 23:43, I do not believe that water baptism is a requisite to salvation. But that we do it in obedience to the Lord's command.
-----------------------------
Finally I agree with you that this is a Covenant Relationship.
Of course we call it the New Testament(Covenant).
-------------------------------
I do not have a degree in Bible nor did I attend seminary.
But this stuff is not all that hard to "grasp"
-------------------------------
Thank-you for asking this question.
Anyone can email me if they wish to continue the dialog.

That is one of the many interpretations that an unclear holy scripture leads people to.
There are thousands of other nuances that have been drawn from the same verses you are relying on for your doctrine.
It makes one wonder why God doesn't seem to care to clear it all up. Maybe salvation isn't important to him, or maybe he doesn't exist.

Rom 10:9-10, 13 dont mention water. Many verses dont mention water
Mr Crusader? Does your pulpit have a hose on it...if not why? IF Water saves....get all you can.

I'm not quite sure I "graspped" what u meant by "People who speak in terms of being 'saved' miss the whole boat"...What exactly did you mean by that? As I was taught & raised in the church, being Saved is not just something that you claim to be...it's a way of life...it directs your everyday paths, and it influences ur everyday thoughts...
It may just be, perhaps, that the company you've encountered who speaks of being "saved" is simply CLAIMING something, but not actually LIVING it.
