one must love in order to be loved, or in the idea of Us loving God we must keep his commandments. but in order for us to keep his commandments we must have been loved first? Or does god truly Love us unconditionally? or is unconditional love an oximoron?

nope, not true, you can love without being loved back....
unconditional love is the only "true" love...
"strong emotional attachment to another being that cannot be altered by their actions, and when they leave your life, they cannot be replaced"
all other uses of love are exxagerations of admire, or other positive adjectives...

No, love is not a two way street. It is not a requirement that one must love in order to be loved.
There is unconditional love...such as God's love for us. There are a few in my life I love unconditionally.

You can love and still not be loved. If we love God by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit then we can begin to keep the commandments. God loves us unconditionally for non of us deserve to be given eternal life with God.

Have you ever been a parent? Good parents love thie children more than anything, they would do anything for them, and they do all they can to keep they healthy and safe. But all the baby needs the parents for is shelter, warmth, and food. Give a two month old a new set of parents and they won't know the difference. You can love without being loved in return.

Yes God's love for us is unconditional love. We see glimpses of this sort of love often expressed by parents to their children, or between husband and wife, or between two good friends.
