The generation of electricity creates 50% of man made co2 emissions in the US.

Nuclear power has the ability to generate all of the countries power needs 24/7/365 without generating any ghg's.

The "environmental" lobby prevents nuclear power from being built, as they are making billions from coal and the high price of oil.

Power generation is the biggest multiple contributor to CO2 emissions and accounts for 24% of the total CO2 emissions. I say multiple because there are several components to the power generation emissions - there are different ways of generating power and they use different fuels but when combined together they are the biggest contributor.

The biggest single contributor is deforestation which accounts of 18% of CO2 emissions (16% if you take into account the negative effect of reforestation and afforestation).

The largest sources of CO2 in the atmosphere are VOLCANOS which produce about 1000 times more such emissions EACH year than the entire history of man on the planet, followed by animals, followed by humans BREATHING out CO2, folllowed by the burning of wood and coal in POOR DEVELOPING NATIONS.

Burning coal make the most CO2, burning oil makes a little less and burning natural gas makes the least. That is because coal is almost pure carbon, Oil is part carbon and part hydrogen, and natural gas is 3/4 hydrogen (by number of atoms, not by weight). Since coal is used extensively for electricity generation, your statement may be true. But coal, in the form of coke, is used in steel smelting too. So steel manufacturing may cause more CO2 emissions than electric generation. I don't know for sure.

On a global scale the largest source of man-made CO2 is from electricity and heat at almost 25%. Close behind are deforestation and raising livestock at about 18% each. You can see a good flowchart here:

and a story about the emissions related to raising livestock (mostly from cattle) here:

Volcanoes and the decay of organic matter.

Human activity accounts for less than 1% of the atmospheric CO2.
