I like the bratz. They do wear alot of make up and wear tank tops but if you raise your children correctly, a doll shouldnt effect them.

I think they're a horrible example. When I was finishing school, I used to substitute teach. The girls who were sitting in the hall, waiting for the Dean to call their parents, or for the nurse, because they were pregnant, or standing off property, smoking cigarettesor trying to 'impress' boys by having sex with them and being all-around "tough"....they all had the same look. That look was: dark lip liner with lighter lipstick. thick, dark eyeliner. tight pants. stacked shoes. Sound familiar? Bratz dolls look like many of the troubled, hopeless girls already in existence. Why spend money to make a child think that is normal?
Barbie doesn't set the best example either, especially for petite brunette little girls, but at least she plays tennis instead of being on her way to smoking crack. Drive through a ghetto. Look at the girls involved in gangs and drugs. Look at the girls dropping out to have babies. That's what Bratz look like.

I am not a parent but I have several nieces. I would not buy a Bratz or Barbie doll for any of them because I feel there are better ways to spend my money for the girls. My nieces love books and tell me they have too many toys and don't need anymore toys. I am so blessed to have them in my life.

I agree that they're not too different from Barbie. And I think Barbie is awful too.
Why are we encouraging our young girls to dress so provocatively? Those dolls are marketed to 8-11 yr olds - that's way too young for them to think short-shorts, make up, and cleavage are acceptable.
I just think that dolls that are physically so far from the norm only establish insecurity and unrealistic ideas in young girls. I read once that if Barbie were real, she'd 7 ft tall, have 17 inch waist, and her breasts would be so heavy she wouldn't be able to stand upright. And this is what we want our little girls to think women are supposed to look like??

I remember owning Bratz. I suggest you buy her the Myscene dolls. I enjoyed those more; they seemed more grown up to me than barbies, the same dolls that wore ballerina tutus. My little sister played with those. I felt older.
The myscene dolls have a unique style--while the Bratz all look clone-like, much like teens today. I don't encourage either, but the Bratz honestly just give me the heebies.

Well, I'm not fond of Bratz or Barbies. I don't think it is healthy for young girls to get focused on looks at an early age. I want my little girl to be a little girl - she'll be a teenager soon enough!

i think they are such a waste of money. their is like 8 characters i think and each character has like 100 different versions of them. then u have to pay anywhere from 16.99-40.00 for the doll, depending on the version. i think they are sluttier then barbie.
when i was young my barbies wore a ballroom gowns today barbie and bratz look like prostitutes. if my son were a girl i wouldn't let her play with it.

I don't care for the older Bratz dolls, but I don't mind the Bratz kids or Bratz babies, they're not so slutty...

Because they are overmakeuped bimbettes that they are trying to pass off to our 8 year old little girls. And they are dressed up entirely too old for an 8-10 year old.
They would be perfectly fine for an 18 year old, but they are targeting the 8-10 year old group. I'm sorry, if my daughter (or step daughter for that matter) even THOUGHT about leaving the house dressed like that, they would have a very rude awakening that they weren't.
