Great point.
Apparently he was misled by Satan along with Dante?
Satan sure is counter productive in his attempts to deceive.

you might want to redefine what eternal torment and everlasting torment is in order to find a best intepretation to get a good answer that is most probable and true.
the only ones that might have eternal torment are the sons of perdition. because they are the "only" ones that are "lost".
they are cast out of the kingdom of God into outerdarkness.
however, if you are asking about everlasting punishment, i have found a verse in the book of revelation that describes the term "everlasting to everlasting" as having both an end and a beginning.
even still, those that are dead in HELL and IN DEATH and in the SEA, a caused to come forth and to the judgment. So in a sense their term(s) in hell has an end. And when they SEE God I believe most will ask for forgiveness and bow their Knee to Christ. and of course Christ will declare his forgiveness and only those sons of perdition that do not bow their knee will not be forgiven. I think this will apply to the nephelim as well. so you have to ask how many sons of perdition will come out of hell. ?
but you also have to askhow many will be forgiven?
and you have to ask how much greater is the GRACE of Christ and his forgiveness.?
then you ask if any of those spirits who are forgiven what was it like to be in death and in hell? and they might SAY: it was LIKE it would NEVER END.
yet, it is also written in Ephesians that the spirits in prison from the days of Noah could be set free. so their time has an end.
then it is also written that Jesus opens the prison doors and the inmates are set free as well.
as for the sermon. I would like a link to be to read it.
but sometimes i think God can be MORE angry at the saints who profess his name, then he is at people who dont know the difference. His mercies are New everyday.
eternal torment has been misunderstood througout all the generations. its almost like the phrase which describes Gods love which is supposed to be infinite and without condition. Yet, it is clearly written that to prove that we love God we have to keep his commmandments. and this kinda proves that Gods love has conditions. So its not unconditional.

In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.'
"But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.'
"He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'

because God needs human beings to obey and do what they are instructed. questioning changed into the fruit from the tree of the expertise of excellent and evil. human beings ought to no longer imagine in the experience that they favor to flow to heaven, they ought to do exactly what they are instructed. questioning is for God in difficulty-free words. those who imagine and are knowledgeable are the first human beings to flow to hell. that is the reason the kind of number of all and assorted is popping to receive Christ as Savior. they are the meek and gentle that Jesus spoke of, and they do no longer imagine for themselves or question what's commanded of them. praise Jesus!
