Spent 20 years in the Navy most of them in Electronic Warfare, during my last 10 years, we were being merged into the Cryptology ratings, and we did quite a bit of work with them. All my work was with non communications signals, but we did work closely with those that did communications signals. Unfortunately it's work that we can't talk about too much, but it was enjoyable to work in that field. You'll probably do a lot of work in rooms that have no windows.

U know what is with everyone that joins the military when they ask this question (What can they expect) we that have come before can't give that answer we do not have crystals balls to see into ur future everyone that goes through boot camp n there MOS,has a totally different experience ok.
And it has changed a lot over the years so what happened to someone ten five or four years ago is not going to be the same by the time u get there it evolves when times and technology changes so quit trying to anticipate what will happen when the world does not even no what will happen from one minute to the next n especially a signal intelligence analyst with all that is going on in the world r-u- serious just get in there and enjoy the ride bottom line and take it were it takes you or vice a versa.

Forget getting a BS or BA degree in 4 years, It is almost impossible to earn a BS/BA in four years going full time. To expect to do it, while working from 8 to 12 hours everyday, its just unrealistic. You can take class's after you get to your first duty station, But you will only be able to take one or two class's at a time.

There's many interesting things to do in the army and intelligence in special.
Does analyzing signals sound exciting?
Then again, you may not be after an exciting role in your service term.

I don't know what all he did, but an ex-boyfriend of mine was one of those, stationed in Hawaii- he said it was mostly boring, "beeping freeqs" (monitoring the various frequencies for transmissions, deciphering them, etc.), and I know that he had access to a lot of information. But mostly, he just did his job and shopped a lot. Have a great time, hope you get stationed somewhere pleasant! :)
