I personally, have to say that as a parent, I thank anyone for warning me of anything when it concerns my children but what it comes right down to it, I'll be reading the books and seeing the movie first before my children ever lays eyes on either one, and then it will be my choice whether I see any hidden agenda, that my children should view them or not. That is my God given right.

is this Yahoo Opinions now ?????
well i think the chronicles of nania are a bunch af cr@p and i am yet to see a christian film that isn't.
if you want to take offence to something you havent seen yet unless you have access to a illegal copy (good hones person if you do) then i sugest you watch it. many people call their deity god that doesn't mean it is an attack on your religion. if this film was viewed by any god (or should i say person who uses the term god for their devine master) follower as against their religion based on the facts i have seen of god being killed at the end, but believe it or not try using personal experiance rather than preconceptions to make a decission then you wont be so ******* fill in with any word you want my word starts with an f and ends with a hand the middle letter is L and how the hell is a film that deliberatly counteracts the nania films an attack on christianity unless you are admitting the most famouse christian fiction is based on the bible in some way??

It appears to me that you are making assumptions from one article. I do know that the author of the book has been quoted as saying that he is an atheist. I do know that if I think the story looks interesting, I will go to the library and borrow the book. If I like the book and think it might be worth to own a copy, I might buy a used copy (only because I never buy new if used is just as effective).

I also know that I am an independant thinking adult who is capable of making her own decisions. There are many movies out there that make comments against Christianity. Some even claimed that "The Passion of the Christ" was against Christianity as well.

This type of question irritates the hell out of me. As Christians, is our faith so weak that we let books, works of fiction, threaten us? Yes, Pullman is an atheist and that is sad, for him. But he is a fantastic writer and poses many moral and ethical questions in the books. I for one love them, and I will be going to see the film.

Far more worrying to me are the amount of children's films that have in my mind unacceptable levels of violence in them, but are aimed at very young children, eg. Spiderman. My kids won't be going to see 'The Golden Compass' because they are too young and wouldn't understand it. But they have seen many other films like 'Spiderman' that had in my mind too much violence for young children. But for some reason Christians are silent about that. Why?

So its an attack on christianity and our children: Wake up and smell the coffee. It's only a film.

so god (or the good guy) gets killed in the end. How many films has that happened in.
Methinks your getting your knickers in a twist over nothing. It is, after all only a story....good greif.

Yeah. I heard this.

Truthfully, as an agnostic it doesn't bother me, but it doesn't seem that 18 years of being raised in a religious tradition would be overcome by a movie or a book.

I still plan on seeing it. If I stayed away from all movies that had something in it I didnt believe in or was made by someone that held beliefs I found obnoxious or wrong then I would never ever be watching any movies.

First I have to go see Beowolf tonight!

What is Christianity?
Is it the Mother Earth? Or the Father Sun?
Is it the mighty White Buffalo?
Is it what Morning Cloud the Medicineman says, "It is Whiteman magic"?

Heve you heard of the film "Bella"?
It is supposed to be a good, Christian based film

The book is, but I've read they left all the anti-religious stuff out of the movie.
