God has the ability to send forces of nature to punish people but that does not mean we should jump to that conclusion....quite the contrary. God is there for us to find comfort and strength in times of natural disasters. Natural events are simply the world at work...be it for good or bad. Cyclones, tornadoes, typhoons and hurricanes all happen because of natural forces. The world we live in today is much more dangerous than the perfect world God created in the beginning. People will twist the source of natural disasters into something God sends because of the stories of the plagues and other natural causes of destruction that God sent in the Old Testament. The times for that are over....the world is at the mercy of natural forces and people that live in typhoon or hurricane prone areas should not expect to be free of danger. If you think being a believer exempts you from trouble, you are mistaken too. We can avoid it by reading His Word but we still live in a sinful, imperfect world. The people of Bangladesh chose to live in an area that has been struck by typhoons many times and yet they still choose to live there as did the people of New Orleans and other coastal areas. Cyclones and tornadoes do damage to believers as well as non-believers. God does not send the rain for crops or sun to shine only for the faithful.
Quite often, the only time people search for God is when they are in deep trouble. And it also brings out a great amount of generosity and kindness from others.

i'm sorry, but i'm just a simple pagan and it's ideas like that that make me grateful that i am.
you're entitled to believe in whatever god that you wish, as is your pastor.
however, it is disgusting that every time a natural disaster occurs folks that claim to be christian come out and say these things. after disaster hits, it is not a time to sit there and say "haha, we told you so."
as an outsider, i think your god would be much better served if your pastor had done a sermon about how you could show the love of christ to those who have lost it all (their homes, their few possesions, their loved ones.)
there is a time and place to bring words of the vengeance your god brings. bringing them after a disaster only serves to promote a shakable faith based on fear.
you should ask your pastor to show you the scriptures that back up his belief that this was punishment. i'm not trying to discredit your faith or to get you to walk away from your faith. i am trying to get you to truly know the book on which your beliefs are based. if your pastor cannot back up his words with scripture, then he is a questionable leader.

No, this good judgment is thoroughly incorrect. God is form and would not punish complete countries. Poverty in the worldwide and in India has a various source. This so stated as Christian Missionary could close up his evil mouth. by way of making use of speaking out such xenophobic innovations and innovations, he needless to say shows that he has no longer understood the main concept-approximately Christianity - it is "love thy neighbor and forgive him". tell him God will ask a proof of mouthing such words, at Heaven's Gate while he would be long previous from this earth. as properly that missionary are there to assist.

What about the hurricans that ripped through New Orleans? Florida? The fires in California? The tornadoes in Kansas? Is that God punishing people too?

Delighting in the deaths of others, especially those who were killed because of a natural disaster, is sick. Thinking that God did it because he doesn't like them isn't only sick as well, but ignorant of all the teachings of the Bible you claim to venerate.

OMG! People in America talk like this! I thought it was only the Mullahs in Iran. For one person to claim to know God's will is terrible.
