It's sodium...it's a preservative...some people are allergic to it...my mom had to go to the emergency room after MSG poisoning. It made her VERY sluggish. I had to pick her up at work because she couldn't drive herself...she dragged her purse down the stairs like a blankie. It was really weird, she doesn't drink or take meds, so I've never seen her in that condition. They call it Anji...short for the name of the manufacturer...I ate foods with it quite a bit when I worked for a family from New Guyana...I never had a bad reaction.

Some people are afraid that MSG could cause cancer, even though that's not been proven. I have a friend who gets migraines when she eats MSG.

Some people are sensitive (allergic) to MSG. So be careful with it!

Some people react to it, and what i don't understand is why restaurants are widely using it without this consideration in mind.
