I suppose you would have to ask every single Mexican to find out how they feel about Americans(black or white) and then do the math. I doubt that those "statistics" from your boyfriend are true! My husband is from Mexico and he has no problem with any race. Neither do his family nor our friends. This question/comment that you are asking about is simply a matter of opinion not fact!!!
Anybody of ANY race can be racist...all races have hateful words to call others! Anyway, what does it matter to you?

I don't know about two-thirds, and I only know of 2 such words, but it doesn't sound completely off. There is racism in Mexico as in any other country, but, asside from some very zealous official programs to celebrate native cultures, little has been done to address the historical patterns of racism that shaped that country (one reason that it's tiny white minority wields so much wealth and power).

It's one of the things that adds to the waves of emmigration from Mexico. Going north doesn't just get you better job prospects, for a mestizo, it also gets you better protection from racism.

Despite popular opinion any one of any color is capable of being racist. I have no idea what precise percentage of Mexican citizens are racist. I can tell you that not all Mexicans are dark haired or dark complected. There are natural born Mexican citizens who are fair complected, blond haired, blue eyed and so on. I have no idea of what percentage of any group of Mexicans is racist. I am sure some are just as some United States citizens are and some French citizens and Egyptian citizens and Japanese citizens. Racism is a universal problem. If there are green guys in Alpha Centuri, there are probably some that hate white people.

Added: PNAC ~ Penelopea may be correct but it should be noted that many people try to interact with others equally despite any lingering feelings of racism. What we call a racist are those that make no effort to interact equally and often intentionally display their hostility based on race. We may all be racist to some infinitesimal degree but that does not excuse acting as a racist. We should not use the idea that we are all racist to say its OK.

Agression toward persons without power.

But more 'racism' is in this forum! Go to search with 'race' and you will find! Report it! Block the askers!

Every race and nationality has racists in it. And how does your boyfriend know that it is 2/3? Unless he took a poll or survey, he wouldn't know that.

Mexican is not a race. Hispanic is not a race. There are 3 races, caucasian, *******, and mongoloid. It is not racist to call a Hispanic or a European or an American names. The word is bigoted. It is only racist when it applies to one of these races. Therefore, when one hates those they call white ( caucasion) it is racist. If they call them American, it is bigoted. When one hates Hispanics, it is bigoted. When one hates blacks, it is racist, etc.

There are many derogatory names for all races and nationalities, derogatroy jokes, you name it. So many it would take a page to fit all of them in it. Name calling doesn't get anyone anywhere. You can see, it's all over this board.

The US doesn't have a corner on ignorance. I once heard an illegal friend of mine ask why they ought to celebrate our Independence Day. It was an innocent enough question and I gave her the obvious answers. She wasn't being hateful, she was being ignorant.
I don't really think "they" hate us because we took "their" land. Racism is born from fear and lack of education.

I hope that there isn't that much racism in the Hispanic community, but Hispanics can be racist like any other ethnic groups.

In Mexico, there is a sort of cast system where those of lighter skin are considered superior to those of darker skins. When they come over to the US, they bring in the problems of Mexico. SOme resent the caste system and attack those of lighter skins, while others try to maintain the caste system in the US. In LA, the African American's and the Hispanics are fighting over territory and resent ment is growing there. TO comment on Sexy mama, I see alot of La Raza type here, and I see alot more insults like coconuts then other ethnic slurs. Granted I am usually here late at night and might not see the same group of people. When I sepak of the La Raza type, I mean those who believe in La Raza Cosmica. THe belief that the fifth race, Hispanics are superior and should spread through out the world and bring their form of enlightenment to the world. That those who are of Mix race are inherently superior to other races.

Unknown to most is that the level of RACISM sown by minorities exceeds the levels shown by the majority towards these very minorities.

THIS IN NO WAY EXCUSES RACISM OF THE MAJORITY but it does illustrate just how monumentally hypocritical minorities are about their own racism.

Anybody who has tried or knows somebody who has tried to marry into a Jewish ,Italian,Indian,Japanese etc etc etc family knows what racism is all about. There are of course many other examples where minorities are blatant about their own racism .
