I was in the grocery store the other day & it was crowded. I was ready to check out when I saw a woman leave the line and go somwhere else. So, I took the spot. I was so glad because only 1 person in front iof me. All of a sudden, she comes back, comes up beside me and proceeds to ram my cart. I asked her what she was doing and she said that she was in my spot first and she should go before me. When someone leaves a spot in any store, you loose & go to the back of the line. She wouldn't give up. When I moved up a little, she again rammed my cart. I wanted to push her cart across the aisle I was so mad. What arrogance. Finally my husband said, "just let her go in so we don't cause a scene" Typical coming from a minister. So I backed up & let the witch in and she kept on yelling, "I was here first blah blah blah. I told her to shut up, she got what she wanted. If my husband wasn't there, she would never had gotten that space. What would you have done?

I like to make people feel bad about how they acted. That would have pissed me off too. I would probably have said something like "Well m'am you did leave the line but since you are so rude why don't you go ahead and get in front of me so that we can get you checked out and away from all these nice people so you don't annoy them also. No point in ruining everyone's day just because you are a nasty person." Something along those lines. I would also make sure I am as sweet as pie when I say it. Almost over the top like!! As for you hubby...mine is the same way. He never wants me to stick up for myself and say anything!! That makes me mad too!!!

Your are correct- you lose your spot in line if you leave, but clearly this woman is unhinged, and it was sensible to give her her spot back. You cannot reason with a irrational person, so therefore you did the right thing. And telling her to go to hell would have only inflamed the situation.

I'm with your husband. What's the big deal? Ok, she was rude and childish, but does getting rude and childish right back solve anything? I've said it before on this site, and I'll say it again - one of the greatest lessons I learned from my mother is that "real maturity allows for the immaturity of others." Let her pitch her little temper tantrum, but don't let her fits decide for you how you will behave. Remember, what would Jesus do?

I always ask them this too when I get a whinner
"Can you say moooooo?" And they go "What?" and I just smile. By the time they leave they turn around and act like they finally got it! Now, that is PRICELESS!

It only works for women because some wome can be such COWS. ;)

She's lucky it wasn't me she did that to because I would have rammed her right back, even harder, and she would NOT have taken my place in line. She left the line and you were next. She was completely wrong.

I think I'd have asked her "did you forget your meds this morning" .. .and asked the cashier to call the manager, as this woman was assaulting me with her cart...
