I am going to my boyfriends friends place (he is getting married this coming summer) I have met him about 4 times and her maybe twice.

This is a joke, right? You are going to your "boyfriends" place & "he" is getting married & you've only met him "4" times & "her" twice?
He's your boyfriend, but you've only met him four times & he's marrying someone else???

For housewarming , it would be good to ask him what he needs If he told you to get an oven (example), then get him an oven and let him know that you are giving him an oven so that he won't buy a new one. Likewise all guests should do the same to avoid people giving the same gifts. You wouldn't want him to end up with 3 or 4 ovens Unless you think your gift is very unique, it is always better to ask the host first.

Something neutral but useful is always nice. Maybe a nice set of kitchen utensils, grill utensils or something else useful. Make a nice gift basket out of it. For example: you could do a nice mixing bowl, some utensils and a cookie mix.

We just had one at the beginning of the year and most people bought either Target gift cards or Home Depot gift cards which were greatly appreciated. That way we could buy whatever we wanted for decorating or fixing up the place!

Basket - Cleaning supplies or filled with movie themed items popcorn, popcorn salts free rental drinks put it all in a large bowl for serving popcorn

How about a picnic basket with wine glasses, a bottle of wine, a table cloth, scented candles, and other assorted goodies for their indoor our outdoor picnics.

Sounds more like you need a host/hostess gift. Candy, wine, nuts, flowers, a plant, any would do nicely.
