We live in the philippines so we don't have winter. I have experienced snow when i was in europe BUT my brothers still haven't. We are planning to go to China next month which i believe is winter time. Which part of china gets thick thick snow? I don't wanna disappoint my brothers. Although part of our itinerary is to see the great wall which is already "great" enough BUT of course it would be really nice if they can see some snow too.

You will find snow in winter in Beijing, but a few hours North by fast train will take you to Liaonning (Shenyang), Heilongjiang (Harbin), and Jilin (Changchun). Great places to experience winter's magic in Manju land...

Otherwise, come to Yellowknife anytime between October and May! We have a big (relatively compared to our population) Filipino community who are surprisingly getting accustomed to the cold in no time.

I would postpone the trip until mid-January and then fly to Harbin. In addition to being a cold, snowy place, Harbin hosts an annual ice sculpture festival that starts Jan 5th and lasts over a month. There is also a nearby ski resort called "Yabuli" and which is described as being China's best ski resort. So, if you are interested in doing more than just looking at some snow in Beijing, I'd go to Harbin. But, be prepared, it is very cold there. Dress appropriately. You can do a Google search on Harbin Ice Festival, the Yabuli Ski Resort, and dressing appropriately for extreme cold.

Well Beijing would be easiest to get to but I don't think they've got snow yet. A place that will certainly have snow is Harbin but it's amazingly cold so be prepared. You can always get the train and stay for just a night or two.

all of the credible answers here were good. If you plan to see the wall, you should go north if it and see the snow. then work your way south to beijing. Also the HArbin answer was great. This site is very nice and you will seee plenty of snow. Hope you enjoy your trip. You will enjoy China that is for sure.

Just go to the northern part of China. Anyway, you want to see snow, come to Canada instead. You'll see snow that will last you a life time!
