hey im doing a project and really need to know this

the answer is no plants grow towards a light source

Plants respond to many things in the environment. These are called tropisms. Gravitropism (also called geotropism) is the movement of plants in relation to gravity. Negative geotropism is exibited by stems- they grow away from the pull of gravity. Positive geotropism is exhibited by roots- They grow towards the pull of gravity. This is accomplised by small structures in the cell called statoliths which allows the plant celll to become soft and "bendy" on one side so it can gro towards gravity.

Yes, it is called geotropism.
The roots are pulled towards gravity while the stem fights gravity and grows upwards. This is both a positive and a negative tropism. This phenomenon explains trees growing off the sides of slopes.

Gravity also fights water movement in trees. This process (with adhesion, cohesion and tension) limit height.
