My family and I will be getting together with our extended family ( a total of 17 people, we eat like 30) and we will have the usual fare, turkey, potatoes, gravy and the like.

But with us 1 turkey isn't enough, so recently we have been trying to do a new method of cooking the secondary "reserve" turkey.

We have already deep fried, and grilled. I was wondering if any one had any other suggestions. They can't be too tough because the second turkey is the male project ( along with making a tower of miller cans and watching the packer game). I cook in a restaurant right now so I have some skill.

Some things I thought of were BBQ turkey, or jerk turkey (like jerk chicken.

I was hoping you all out there could give me some tried and tested turkey cooking Ideas. Thanks.

No, we do 2 big turkeys, we want leftovers,

We all make turkey related breakfast the next morning and then my grandma makes turkey and wild rice soup.

Consider cooking a turkey breast on the grill to get that nice smoked flavor as well. Don't want to grill it again? Ok...Before you cook it, set it in a brine of 2 cups kosher salt and 1 cup brown sugar plus 3 gallons of water for 6 hours. Drain and rinse well. Make a mixture of 2 cubes butter with 1/2 cup fresh chopped sage and 1 T kosher salt. Spread this mixture between the skin and the meat. Drizzle turkey breast with olive oil and sprinkle generously with kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. For basting, melt 1 cube butter with 3 T lemon zest, 1/2 cup white wine, 1 clove minced garlic and fresh ground pepper. Bake in oven until cooked thru, basting every 20 minutes.

Have you looked at just having a second turkey breast instead of a second whole turkey?

I'm one of the few in my family that likes dark meat, out of 10. Everyone else prefers white meat. What I do is cook a whole turkey and have another turkey breast going.

I just usually brine and bake.
However, I've thought about putting the breast in a smoker, but that requires too much attention when the other stuff is going on. However, nothing beats grilling/smoking as a guy project. I still recommend brining unless it's one of those "basted" turkeys... i.e. Butterball.

my family always takes a paper shopping bag and puts lots of shortning on the inside and then bakes the turkey that way. it comes out really juicy. It is good. and not that hard.

I know you didn't ask for leftover recipes, but I discovered an awesome way to eat thanksgiving leftovers...
2 years ago I took all the leftovers and rolled them into large flour tortillas with cheese and made burritos. they were awesome!
