I've been with my bf for about 5 months but some how i feel he's not yet over his ex.. They dated for about 3 years off and on and, i went from being his best friend to his gf (known him for about 4 yrs), and i'm really happy but can't let that go and i know i should. How would i know if he's over her? I'm scared because I know he's always going to have feelings for her... Should i just let that go and be happy? Or be worried that she might come back in the picture and he could leave me?

He's with you. That's probably the best sign that he's over her.

You can't expect 3 years to go away quickly. She left an impact on his life and that's never going to change. I think your worry over losing him stems from your own insecurities. Be confident, he chose you for a reason that he sees good in you even if you don't feel it strongly.

I have been in that same situation and the same guy I was in that sitauation with were still together 3 years later. I just suggest from experience that you have a subtle talk with him about how you are feeling. If you don't all this will build up and you will not trust him. Two I can't stress it any better RELAX. Don't go looking for anything it will just lead to fights. If he's a good man utilize all your time enjoying each other and not the ex sitation. Finally, if you have a question about his feelings for the ex JUST ASK don't keep it bottle up. You'll feel more at ease.

Hope this helps! I have went through it.

P.S. My boyfriend broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years and was with me the next week. So Iam proof it can work.

Were you friends with him while he was dating this other chick?
If so, then you probably only feel this way because you know exactly what he has been through and felt for this girl.
If not, then he probably told you too much and now you are worried.
I would not get my draws in a twist, just be happy.

Be cautious, but don't be jealous. That will only make things worse. However, if you see signs that he is still into his ex - you need to go back to being his friend. Nobody wants to take second place when they could and should be first, right?
