Despite the VA's attempt to portray themselves as the "saviors" of veterans, those in need of help are not being taken care of by our country. They continually underestimate the number needing help.

I call your attention to this link regarding one case as example.

This type of problem is repeated daily in the media, but our government (our VA) continues throwing out big numbers indicating their expenditures to take care of us. Where is the money going? What is the amount of expenditure per veteran versus the amount being provided through budgeting, donatations, fund raisings, volunteer organizations etc.? Something stinks.

God Bless our troops.

CNN’s Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta will show you just how bad it is on a two part show Saturday and Sunday at 8 and 11 pm. Watch it and write your congressman.

In my opinion, the VA should not get all of the blame. The government is equally to blame because the VA is understaffed and not properly managed. It takes forever to get any type of action through to the VA. If a soldier has been out of the service for over a year with a disability rating, then it can take a year and a half to two years to have VA review a request to reevaluate their disability.

The current actions in place to take care of our Veterans are not enough. Funding needs to be increased for our Veterans, especially those injured in combat. Retirement and disability is just not enough to get by on.

I recently retired after 21 years of service with a 70% disability rating. I too am an Iraq war Veteran. The Va messed up my rating (they couldn't add correctly) and they finally got it fixed with the help of Amvets on my side.

You are absolutely right though, are Veterans are not properly taken care of and we need people in office that will help out the Veterans!

This has been the case since the VA was started many year ago. Yet people still want the government to take care of their health care.

It is like any other part of the government they know no matter what they are going to get a paycheck at the end of the week so why care or put forth their best effort. I bet you if we told them you either help these men and women or your out on your azz things would start happening. They are over worked and under paied to a point and if it is like anything else in the government you have to submitt tons of worthless redundent paper work for everything.

I did 23 as a Navy Corpsman. I don't think the Government has ever supported the VA as it should. They always hired the worst doctors and provided the poorest care. Maybe one day America will give a sh#t. Blessed Be

The media is going to make it sound worse than it really is, and highlight only the worst cases they can find. Any thing they can do to make the gov. look bad, especially a self proclaimed " conservative" administration.
The government has not properly taken care of the vets since the revolutionary war. One shouldn't join expecting to get taken care of when your out given the track record. At least they are better now than before.

Jester, I am sorry that you have such a poor attitude about the Vet. You might try getting out and serving something bigger and better than what you think you are, azzhole.
I think it is pretty much a tradition that the people who sacrifice most, put their life on the line get the short end of the stick, where the politicians, Congressmen, Senators, on up the ladder get free medical care, don't pay social security yet will draw it when they retire, and give themselves 20-25% pay raises, and feel like the military is robbing their personal bank account when they give us a 2.3% pay raise. As far as treatment and taking care of the vet after he gets out, forget it. Number crunching, slight of hand and double talk is our politicians specialty.

What do you mean by "take care of our veterans"?

If there is a need not being satisfied by the VA, what are YOU doing to resolve it. Stop wringing your hands.

Thank you for blessing those of us who are troops.
