It should be more then enough....normal portions are 1/2 pound per adult. So you should be fine, especially as you also have to consider the other dishes you will be serving.

Not big enough, the frame accounts for 1/4 to 3/8 of the body weight. I love the leftovers, nothing beats a turkey sandwich slathered with mayo or a turkey club sandwich with bacon. Don't forget that yummy turkey tetrazini or turkey chow mein.

Not if I'm invited!
Don't forget, a lot of the 12 pounds is the bones and other non-edible parts.
And besides, what's turkey dinner without leftover turkey for sandwiches?

If the other 6 adults, bring something to go with Dinner.
All the work shouldn't be on you.
The men will just watch football, and drink beer, and eat all the
snacks. The kids will eat all the cookies and treats.
Set out a vegetable tray with them small carrots, pickles,
olives, celery and some dip, so they are eating something
"healthy" before Thanksgiving Dinner.
"Thanksgiving is about sharing." Happy Holidays. <}:-})

Depends on how much they eat and if you want leftovers. Sounds pretty small though. My mother used to make close to a 20 lb for 6 adults and 4 young kids.

NO. At least, not with my family. There's always the white-meat, dark-meat controversy, too. So if there was two vegetarians, no one was picky, and there were no men or football games involved, you might call it safe. But I have a feeling that's not the case. Either go bigger, make two, or offer more than just turkey. Honey-smoked ham is always nice...

About half the weight of a turkey is water, fat, and bones. So that leaves six pounds of meat. That should be plenty.

yes..especially if you have so many other things on the table. I never see anyone pig out on turkey at family turkey day. Its usually the deserts. Just make sure you have other things for them to eat.
