The further you go from Birmingham City Centre, the better it gets!
Honestly - the nearer parts, towards Tyseley, Greet and Sparkbrook are a bit rough, but as you go further down the A41 towards Olton (Solihull) it's quite nice.
There is a railway station and buses run along the A41 (Warwick Road) between Birmingham and Solihull.
The main shopping area is around the island at the junction of the A41 and Westley Road, and there are a few restaurants as well as a bowling alley!

Bit like the curates egg - great in parts, not so good in others. Not somewhere I would chose to live to be honest.
