agree with Ice.
i had my Q&A's opened before but then there's some freaks that seems to be keeping tracks of my answers and it doesn't make feel comfortable at all so I made it closed.
Plus, yeah, I would like people to know me only as far as the answers I give them (here). When someone tracks my profile he/she could compare my answers and make a conclusion about me. The most interesting about Y!A is that I can do it anonymously and could jump from a range of unconnected issues. And I mostly answer Q's from 2 specific sections, and ask questions in other sections. I don't want people from my answering sections answer my question just because they think they know me - not because they really can answer my question.

Well, it is private for security reasons. First, a person can track you down by clicking your profile and check for any open questions. If you make them private, then the person can't follow you.
Second, if someone that you know uses yahoo answers and you are asking questions that do not want them to know, then make them private and they won't be able to read the questions.

Usually there not, you can make them so people cant see them or you just cant find the question your looking for. If you want to find the question you wrote down and you really want to see the answers that people have wrote, you can go to your profile and you'll see your questions and there will be the latest question you have asked. So you cant hide your questions or make them private unless you set them like that, or its apart of your account then your not aloud to share it.
why- you cant share it because its like a girl with their diary you cant share even if you want to because you write what your about or a private question that you would like to be answered some day. its to yourself and no one should see it because its your private question
Advice- If you ever want to share you private question just copy what you wrote in your profile. To do this you must be at least 200 days old on yahoo answers.
if you have any more questions email me at kelbishop@comcast.net.
p.s. there is no such thing as a private question or answer, only if you want it to be.

Well, I used to have a level 7 account on YA in good standing with 29% best answers and was a top ten answerer in 4 categories when YA nuked my account for no reason, with no violation notices...so you get more than a little paranoid after that...that trolls can sabotage top answerers' accounts somehow...
