Are we made to believe that we must check our sense of humor at the altar? I spend my mornings in laughter at the quips of my friends with opposing views. Though once I thought I was going to be stoned when laughing at the "Jesus is coming. Everyone look busy!" bumper stickers while at church..

Seriously, don't you think God has a since of humor and wants us to enjoy ours as well? Why are some so offended by a witty remark that happens to oppose their own view?

Yes I most certainly agree. I also know That God has a sense of humor. Look at the playtapus.

Don't sweat the small stuff, hun'. They'll come around and get to know The Joy Of The Lord, as it really is, too.

God Bless you and KEEP you Joy full and gleeful.

The line between "humor" and "insult" varies between individuals. I too would find the "Jesus is coming. Everyone look busy!" bumper sticker humorous. I do not find many of the posted comments which are pretenses of questions humorous. For example: "Why do Christians hate Kool-Ade drinkers and drink Jesus Kool Ade every Sunday?" was not funny-it was ridicules and insulting. And that was a far less insulting then the ones which imply that Christians are pro war, pro guns, hypocritical, ignorant, foolish, and so on. For example:
"Why did God decree, "Thou Shalt Not Kill," yet Christians stand teary-eyed at parades of heroes?
Are we supposed to kill or not? Was God ignorant? What did He know that we just haven't learned yet?"

Jesus is God. God deserves only praise, honor, love and respect.
After what He did for you. How He suffered and died for your sins, you can make fun of Him?
Blasphemy is not funny.
A sense of decency, a sense of responsibility, a sense of
morality, these are what you need today before you can have
a sense of humor. Some people laugh when they see someone shot or hacked up on tv. What kind of sense of humor is that? Satan wants you to think that you are correct in saying that God has a sense of humor and any time you laugh at others views, Christian beliefs, or actions, it is ok because it is just your sense of humor.
Making little of God is not funny.

Enough with the lumping all of us together like a monolithic bloc of goo!

I'm Catholic. I work for the Church. I pal around at the Vatican on a regular basis. And believe me, some of the all-time funniest humor I've ever heard was in those hallowed halls.

We just don't much like smut or mean-spirited jokes that put others down or cause them embarrassment.

PS: I LOVE that bumper sticker! I told Fr. B and he just roared! And said, "No need to warn THESE parishioners. They're the busiest bunch I've ever pastored." And we both laughed.

Christians DO have a sense of humor. But the nonsense that goes on here is rarely funny.

Of course, some people can laugh at a train wreck. Not me. When I see people headed toward Hell, I feel the need to warn them. Unfortunately, that's about the time they start laughing.

Well, at least I tried.....

That's my favorite bumper sticker. As long as the humor isn't mean--you don't seem like yours would be--the more laughter the better.

If I were a believing Christian, I would not joke around at all. I would spend most of my time trying to keep people from being tortured by my God eternally and trying to decipher his will in from the bible accurately. The stakes would be way too high for humor to mess things up.

I'm sure God has a sense of humor! The Bible says that He laughs, so he has to have a sense of humor- remember that man was created in God's own image, so he must have a sense of humor.

Yes, God has a sense of humor and wants us to enjoy ourselves. He knows what we really mean and what we're about. No, you're not going to Hell for a few silly jokes.
