I'd like to sponsor a child but had a previous experience where they continually sent mail asking for more money. I want to find an organization where as high a % of the money I send as possible goes directly to the child - not to mailings looking for $25 for an Easter basket and $50 for National Day celebrations and so on.

I have been with World Vision for a long time, my child actually now works as a teachers assistant, I get updates and even grade cards, its the best in my opinion. I also get pictures. Over the years the monthly donation has went up but only if I want to pay it. Its totally up to me. You will not be disappointed with them.

This guy may be able to help... otherwise I suggest a hamper for your local hospital... or if you have a local Child Welfare department for abused children in care of the Government. Government departments like this usually allocate one worker to a child and so the money donated buys a gift for the child, cause the Govt can't keep this money, and the case worker will give it to the child. You will get no recognition though. It just goes into a box and handed to a child at the right times of year. Mainly christmas. Done it, definitely worth it, if you know what these kids go through.

Spot Single Parent Organizational Team had adopted 10 family's with 17 children and one due Dec 20th. All of the mothers and one Father are employed but are having a hard time making ends meet it is either rent and electricity or Christmas presents. We do not solicit funds through the mail and 100% of everything that comes in goes directly to the kids/familys If you would like information on the family's or children I can E-mail you with that information I am working with 2 companys whose employees are adopting several of the kids. and what they are doing is taking an afternoon out with the list of sizes and a few things that the kids need per mom and want per them ( not knowing) and are shopping for them. Which is fun and we are all going to meet for a big wrapping party and box each family's presents up. and then we are going to deliver the presents late on the 23rd or 24th, so for the young one's they are from Santa. If you would like to be part let me know what you would like to do, pick a child or family. We are open to anything. If you will be in Indianapolis come join the party and come help us wrap :) but whatever you decide to do I'm sure it will help make someones Christmas brighter. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you! Have a great holiday season Jae
