I'll give you my non-religious anecdote. My wife became similarly frigid and I let it slide for awhile. Being an active guy, in a job that put me in contact with other women frequently, I finally said to hell with it and starting getting it on the side. I had some guilt at first out of a loyalty issue, but I finally even rid myself of that. Having kids, and growing up in a single parent home myself, divorce was not an option that I was personally willing to take. The funny thing is, once I didn't give a damn anymore, and was happy with my thing on the side, my wife came around. Soon enough, I grew tired of the complications of dealing with other women, let my wife know about it, somewhat out of spite during an argument, and on the path to reconciliation, I stopped seeing other women. But we are still together, but it isn't a happily ever after story, as things are still difficult at times. The best thing I can tell you, is listen to your doctor and get over the whole guilt thing about rubbing one out. That is the most efficient way to get it off of your mind and your mind back on business. The point of my whole story is that soon enough you will get over the whole need for the "human touch" and realize that other people just mean more complications in life, period. Rub one out and get on with the important stuff in life.

Either alone or with a therapist, you can start to explore the feelings you are having when you touch yourself.
Get to know what is causing you to do this.
Find another way to manage whatever feeling that is bringing this on. Good Luck

Put a touch sensor alarm in your pants that screams "get your hands off your @ss!" if you get anywhere near it.
I have the same problem - some days I look down and discover that inadvertently I'm up to my elbows.

Seriously. carry a pen, pencil. piece of paper . etc with you most of the time. Perhaps the touching habit will diminish or disappear.

Always keep a pen in your hand. If your hands are already occupied it won't be easy to do it unconsiously.
