I know that you can store them for several days at room temperature and their still o.k. to eat. But for how long?

Thanks guys!! I'd never heard of the water test before. That is just what I needed. Hi-D posted it first but Snaglefritz gave the extra info that helped immensely. I can't give you both the points so I'll leave this one to the voters. But if I could you'd both get 10 points each!!

fill up something with water, like a 2cup measuring cup, put the egg in if it floats, it has gone bad, if it stays at the bottom it's still good

REALLY fresh eggs, straight from the farm, don't even have to be refrigerated right away. They are unrefrigerated for long periods of time before making it to the grocery store shelves. Once there, as far as I'm concerned, they aren't truly fresh. Unfortunately, I don't have access to those farm fresh eggs these days. But eggs have a fairly long shelf life.

They shoudn't really sit out at room temperature for more than a day or two. However, in the fridge, they can last up to a year. Most people will use them LONG before that...

I use the water answer. It will lay on the side when fresh and begin to tilt up as it get older. Once it floats you not want to break it open. LOL!

Pre-boiled can stay fresh for a very long time
