I am not an atheist by choice, I honestly can not believe in God. I try, I will pray and read scriptures and while I have hope that one day I might have faith it does not exist. I know what it is to believe in something, such as believe that my wife loves me. I don't have such beliefs that God exists.

Strange, is it not. I've always have been told "just believe". Well, believing is not as simple as many people think it is. My mind will not accept that a God exists. I want one to, but regardless of how hard I pray or search the scriptures I never find that belief.

I've been called a liar for saying the above, but it is truth. I just do not believe. It honestly sucks, if I had such belief then atleast I might be comforted in it.

I don't see how anyone can really believe that God exists when I can not hold such a belief.

Life sucks, it really does. I need something and I am not getting it.

I understand you frustration. I did believe many many years and when my beliefs changed I was upset and sounded like you.

I believe something created us. Now I cannot believe the bible anymore or the bible God, but I cannot say I am an atheist either.

I do believe there is a supreme being or beings that did create us and I like to think sometimes watch over us and send us guides. But I cannot believe in the hell and demons and such. yes there are malevolent spirits, beings but there are the same in human form so why should that be a surprise.

People can be nice, kind, loving forgiving merciful etc or they can be violent, vengeful unmerciful cruel etc.

Yes, I really believe that God exists. I am a Christian, so I also believe that Jesus rose from the dead for our sake.
I've never got up in the middle of the night and seen God or anything like that. Would something like that have to happen to you to make you believe in God? Very few people in history claim to have seen or talked to God. Several people have claimed to have seen the Blessed Virgin, or experienced miracles that they cannot explain. To not believe in God would also mean that you must discount all religious claims ever made collectively as made up lies. That includes the new testament writings. To me, that doesn't make sense.
I'm sure there are some things that you accept as true, that you did not actually witness. Like for instance, Michaelangelo lived and painted the Sistine Chapel. How do you know that it was him that actually painted it? Because you trust what people said about it, and you can look at his works? Believing in God is admittedly a bit more of a leap of faith, since it calls for you to believe in concepts that you cannot fully understand (heaven, Holy Spirit, etc.), but not that much.
300 years from now, there will be people who will doubt that you ever existed on the earth and wrote this question in Answers, because they didn't actually see you type it, or something to that effect. That's how I justified God's existence in my mind, when I first started pursuing my faith. Since then, the more I have learned about my religion, the more it has reaffirmed my beliefs.

Mom's father was a preacher, so I read the Bible much daily and attended church regularly when I was a boy. I began to see errors in the Bible at age 7. By age 11, I told Dad that there is no God or Heaven. Some people want to believe in various things, but I always saw that is a bad mistake. Desires and likes do not affect reality in the slightest manner. It is best to be objective about religion or anything else.

Accept it for what it is, and make the best out of it.

That is, instead of saying that "life sucks", realize that this is all you're gonna get, bub, until the day you die, and then it's over forever, and you need to make the best of it while you're here.

Do good unto others because it's right, not because you respect a heavenly reward. Give money away because you have money to give, not to show off to your Church. Tell the truth because there's no reality in lying, not because the Commandments tell you not to.

You'll find that life is much more fulfilling when you fully accept that you're absolutely alone in your head besides the thoughts that you create and that others inspire you with. You'll be happy, it just takes a lot of realization and ultimately, acceptance.

Why would you want to believe in that god?

Read the scriptures and you'll see that god is an evil maniac who kills people without good reason and makes stupid laws also for no good reason.

I don't think anyone would really want to live in a universe in which they are a 'star' on Gods Big Brother TV show for their whole life but that's what the religious actually believe.

Be glad that there is no god because if there were a god then you'd be in a concentration camp right this very minute.

you just proved there is a god!!!!! look at England ,they turned there back on god and now feel the same way you do! belief in god makes life "not suck" As far as not having faith, who are you praying to? God won't hear you if you don't believe in his son as the only way to heaven! Jesus is the answer to your problem! and all the atheist out there, they have the same problem you have, but you have the guts to admit it!

I sure do believe that God exists. He exists whether people believe in Him or not. I just take a look around me, and really think about the how the earth, the moon, the sun, the stars, and the whole universe was formed, and ask myself, how can people think that everything just appeared? It is so obvious that everything was created. and if everything was created, then there is a Creator. Knowing God exists is something you feel down deep inside of you, not something in your head. Your mind will try and tell you that it doesnt make sense, but that is the enemy. Ask God to reveal himself to you, and really mean it, and believe me, He will.

Yes I do.

Even Professor Antony Flew the former atheist (30+ years of speaking as an atheist) that had debated men such as C.S. Lewis recently said that the latest biological research "has shown, by the almost unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved." He isn't a Christian or even a theist but does believe that a god must have started it all up and let it run... atleast he is moving in the right direction.

Try doing some research here.
