If you are buying for a needy family this Christmas, would you buy the girl panties and bras and the boy boxers? They are very poor and have very little money.

Of course I won't give them just that. I'm giving them electronics, clothes, food, etc.

I don't know the family at all. It is adopt-a-family where they provide me with all the sizes, interests, etc.

If they need it, sure why not get them something pretty/ cute. Other option is to throw in a gift card to a store that has reasonably priced clothes, especially for the girl. I've bought all kinds of things for ompo erished kids. I don't even celebrate xmas but I've bought gifts for needy families -especially young girls- who DO, and have tried to balance between what they need and what they want. I think a girl who doesn't have much, but most likely has to change in front of others for phys. ed etc., would appreciate some pretty underwear!
I guess it also depends somewhat on the type of girl she is, if she's sort of a 'tom boy' she might not care? But most girls old enough to need a bra, care.

I agree with the no...

Your gifts for the children should be more fun. The adults would appreciate it but you know how children are.

If you do end up getting clothing make sure to get a gift receipt or see if you can find out how old the children are.

I just read what you added....
Socks, gloves, hats, scarfs, boots may be a little better as winter approaches. They can always wash out underwear but those things will be needed even more.

Get a Gift Certificate or Gift Card to the parents, they can buy some with it, if they need some. Get a Gift card for a major clothing department chain. That would be good.

Needy familiy? One of the most important thing is to get them some food or a year groocery coupons. Basserie or boxers is only an option. That way, you'll always be remembered for your generousity.

i love that. i actually had a major store adopt me and my daugher once and all the staff pitches in a buys things. its soo wonderfull and i commend you for lending a helping hand. As a person that has been on the other end before, anything given helps allot. socks, underwear, clothing, gift certificates, anything. i think you are doing a great thing. good for you.

Probably not bras because you cant know the sizes. If you know the sizes for the kids yes, i would buy underwear, theyre essentials and needed. I wouldnt buy them "just" underwear, because thats creepy, but if I were buying them clothes anyway i would buy underwear too.

that would depend on how well you know the family or if you feel comfortable doing that. if you know the sizes then yes i would. if they cant afford stuff like that, then that would be better than getting toys and such. i mean, hey, i wouldnt want to keep wearing the same pair over and over ya know. its embarassing to ask for something like that, so i am sure they would appreciate it.

It depends on the family. I think I woudl probably give those items directly to the parents to give to them though. It owuld probably be les embarrassing for the kids.
