Yes, she can, though its a bit more complicated and costs a bit more.
Your dog's first heat is quite late since first heat is typically between age 6-9 months (I wouldn't be surprised if she had a previous heat and you didn't know it - some dogs don't show obvious signs). Dogs typically go into heat twice a year, but there is some variation and you sure can't plan an exact date on your calendar.
Heat lasts 21 days, but they bleed for only part of that time.

If she's in heat, her vagina region will probably be swollen a little and also her nipples. The bleeding could last a week or more. Keep her under control! Every male dog is going to look like Prince Charming to her.
It's more dangerous & expensive to spay when in heat, there is more blood than usual going to her uterus, the vessels are swollen. Vets don't like to do it for good reason.
As soon as the heat passes, get her spayed. It'll be OK if the nipples are still swollen, just so the private parts are back to normal & the bleeding has stopped. Most vets require that you make an appointment ahead of time. If you're taking her to a low-cost clinic, be absolutely sure the heat is over because those places don't provide followup care. Get her spayed.

Some vets will spay during heat, some will not. It's not dangerous to spay during heat, but the operation is a little more complicated. You have to call your vet and ask if they will spay while she is in heat.
Spaying now would be the best option for you if you can get a vet to do it. Heat lasts around 3 weeks. She will bleed for the first and be most fertile for the second. You will need to keep her away from males for the entire 3 weeks. And she will go into heat about every 6 months. So it's best to have her spayed now if possible.

Yes, though they could have one small heat cycle if it wasn't done in time. This is a harmonal thing and will not last very long. The dog cannot get pregnant however. Other males may still get the scent ant try their best to get to her. Have your dog altered asap, before an accident happens and puppies are on the way! Even when done by the very best and experienced breeders, thos is expensive, and potentially very dangerous. Nearly ten million animals are homeless and euthainized every year in this country. Please be part of the solution, instead of part of the problem.

Yes she can get fixed during the heat cycle but all vets charge you extra when you have a female spayed. The average heat cycle is 21 days and remember just because your dog is not bleeding anymore doesn't mean she's not in heat because they usually conceive when their bleeding has stopped ,I breed dogs and I only let my female breed when her bleeding has stopped because then I know she is sure to get pregnant. Also remember every time your female goes in heat her chance for breast cancer goes up,dogs who get spayed are far less likely to develop breast cancer than non spayed dogs, you can ask your vet for more info on that but,I have seen a dog in the last stage of breast cancer and is very horrible.I am glad to talk to a responsible pet owner who cares about their dogs health.Thank you

The owner of the dog needs to know how to "operate" the dog, same way you can get into a car that's in perfect running order but if you don't know how to drive you won't have much luck making the car go anywhere. If the owner doesn't know how to maintain the training, the dog will soon become untrained again. Read more here https://tinyurl.im/EiLsI
People seem to think that once a dog is trained, that's it. Not true. You must reinforce the dog's training every single day in some way. It's best if the owner and the dog go together to get trained. As a professional trainer once said to me "We can train any dog in 2 days. It takes longer to train the owners

You can get her fixed during her heat cycle, but it will be more expensive and it's not really recommended. Your best bet is to wait until she is out of heat. The bleeding stage will last about 2 weeks and then there is another stage after that which lasts a couple more weeks. The stage after the bleeding is when they will actually want to breed, so you need to be careful during this stage.

It can be done - we do it at the shelter often. The dog needs to receive fluids during the surgery, which would increase the cost. Because of this, most private vets will not spay a dog while in heat.
She will bleed for about two weeks. Dogs go into heat twice a year.

Yes, I just had my female fixed and she was in heat. Some vets won't do it then because they are afraid of excess bleeding. When a dog is in heat, the blood supply to the uterus increases and they take extra precautions. It will also cost a little more too. But definitely,Yes, you can have it done.
